JUKEBOX 2025 – Week 7 – Five New Rad Tracks Added Twice A Week

In order to not miss a beat TURN UP THE VOLUME scans the musical
horizon daily, for 10 years now, to pick ace tracks and add 5 new
ones twice per week, to the one and only JUKEBOX that matters.

For a couple of years now TUTV added 10 new tracks every 7 days.
This year we will put 5 new ones in the Jukebox twice a week.

ALL TOGETHER

These red-hot punk ‘n’ roll gunslingers launch another torpedo that makes

Band: PREOCCUPATIONS
Who: Canadian post-punk outfit from Calgary, Alberta.
They formed in 2012 under the name Viet Cong, a name
they dropped in 2016 following lots of criticism related to
the Vietnam War.

Track: FOCUS
New single from their upcoming 5th LP,
titled III At Ease. Out on May 9th.

Matt Flegel (vocalist): “Focus or the lack thereof. Shame and regret: waking up with it, not being able to sleep because of it, and finally falling asleep and having nightmares about it. I
put myself a thousand years in the future with these same feelings. While having so many better things to be worried about, as the world falls apart, still finding it impossible to look past meaningless misgivings.”

Energetic, bass-dominating jam,
with psychedelic guitar textures.

Band: CASSELS
Who: Two post-punk havoc
brothers from London.

Track: INDIGENE
From their upcoming 5th album Tracked in Mud
that will hit your stereo on March 7th. More info here.

Welsh noizz legends Mclusky return soon with a new LP and tour.
They should take Cassels along with them. Why? They’re an ideal
riff-biting warm-up chainsaw for Falkous & Co.

2-Brothers Noise Army CASSELS Twist Your Head With New Capricious Burst ‘ABOUT NOT WRITING’

Daily noise to load your batteries

14 April 2023

Band: CASSELS
Who: 2 noisy brothers – Jim and Loz Beck – from London
Works: So far they released 4 albums, with A Gut Feeling
as their most recent and most amazing one (stream/buy below).

New single: ABOUT NOT WRITING
A split one with pals Beige Palace.

TUTV: This new cut is a perfect one to discover Cassels if you never heard
of them before. It’s all about capricious fragments of wayward guitar riffs
and aggressive drum wallops, going forth and back, slow and fast, bleak
and manic, sounding ominous and intimidating both at the same time while
Jim throws some near-spitting vocal lines now and then in their bone-chilling quiet.Loud.quiet.Loud mix. Think Mogwai causing earthquakes in their early days.
The difference is that this 2-brothers army produce as many decibels as
the Scottish 4-motor engine altogether.

Tune in and up.

.
To be honest, TUTV discovered Cassels only last week too, after a tip from my mate (thanks Ollie), the organiser of their gig in my hometown of Ghent (Belgium) last Tuesday. It was a blast. Their head-twisting noise roller coaster gig was a flabbergasting experience. Go see them if you can.
