ANNA CALVI Featuring COURTNEY BARNETT Drops Reworked Version Of ‘DON’T BEAT THE GIRL OUT OF MY BOY’…

New sonic impulses

28 January 2020

British evocative singer/songwriter ANNA CALVI released her third album
called Hunter back in 2018. Afterward she worked on various other projects.

She announced now a new album called HUNTED, with a set of relatively
stripped-down versions of the songs from Hunter. The record will include
several guests such as Courtney Barnett, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Julia Holter
and Joe Talbo, frontman of British punk band IDLES.

Here’s Hunted‘s first reworked track, an expressive and electric version of
‘DON’T BEAT THE GIRL OUT OF MY BOY’ featuring Courtney Barnett

Here’s the original 2018 Hunter version…

COURTNEY BARNETT Shares Video Clip For Her New Track ‘EVERYBODY HERE HATES YOU’…

Clips that will impress your ears and your eyes

We, the fans (I’m still thrilled about seeing her eye-to-eye in a small Brussels club back in 2014 when she played for about 100 people – pics from that gig below), know for some time now that COURTNEY BARNETT is one of the coolest, most creative and most down
to earth singer/songwriters walking this planet. Following her 2018 album Tell Me How You Really Feel here’s new single EVERYBODY HERE HATES YOU. It’s vintage Barnett swagger, vintage Barnett melodiousness, vintage Barnett sadness. She said she wrote it while listening to a lot of Jeff Buckley. Listen/watch here…

COURTNEY BARNETT Is So Great When It Comes To ‘SMALL TALK’…

Brand new sonic impulses

4 October 2018

Last May COURTNEY BARNETT released her second, splendid longplayer Tell Me How You Really Feel. And today she revealed an unreleased song from those LP sessions. SMALL TALK is as good as anything that turned up on the album. It’s an entrancing
five-and-a-half-minute jam starting with Barnett having a casual conversation with an imaginary companion and ends with an utterly cool guitar/organ jam. She’s a great storyteller, a magnetic guitar player and she never wrote/writes a dull song. Enjoy here…
