Who: Dark and dreamy outfit
from Ghent, Belgium.

The group’s name stems from the ‘sonder’ feeling, the realization that every
casual passer-by has an equally complex emotional world. From introspective
to explosive, from megalomania to self-relativization. Sonders embraces ambiguity
and questions existence without the pretense of knowing the answer.

TUTV: This mood swing rock symphony is an overwhelming piece of magnetic music.
The slow progressing first half creates both a shadowy and sinister atmosphere, and
the soul-stirring feel of being part of a funeral procession.

The singer’s near-baritone voice, reminding me a bit of Editors‘
Tom Smith‘s expressive vocality, fits the ominous tone perfectly.

Then, around the 2.30 mark, all hell breaks loose. The sonic intensity goes sky-high, stoked up by a guitar-schizophrenic orchestration. Doom and gloom everywhere. Heebie-jeebies.

YOBS are a knife between the teeth gang from Liverpool,
gearing up for their self-titled debut LP, out on May 3.

Ahead of it the band dropped another new jackhammer,
named CYANIDE, from the upcoming full-length.

“Cyanide is a song Ali [bassist Alex Smith] wrote the music and I wrote the lyrics to, back when we had a short-lived band called Teenage Crimewave. Lyric-wise I had just read an article on the scientist, Alan Turing. For those who don’t know, Turing was a scientist and Mathematician, and who is credited for being the father of AI, and who happened to be gay. It was illegal back then and he was ordered by the court to undergo chemical castration injections to lower his libido. He ended up taking his life by poisoning himself with Cyanide. The song comes from the angle of one of the angry mob who stalked him, and stopped him living a normal life. It’s a proper sonically driven, fast paced rock n roll tune!”

TUTV: This hit-and-run missile cuts fast-forward with razorblade force.
Chainsaw guitars, crazed percussion and vitriolic vocals work together here
with vicious blitzkrieg aggressiveness. Cyanide rattles like a riot-gun. 118 seconds
of ferocious frustration. No rest for the murderous wicked. This brutal headbutt
will haunt them.
