On August 29, 1994 it will be 30 years since Manchester‘s rock rascals OASIS launched
their turbulent journey with their staggering debut longplayer DEFINITELY MAYBE.
On 30 August, a deluxe anniversary edition will
be available. Info about all formats right here.
OASIS LIVE FOREVER
Noel Gallagher had a half-hour chat with British music site Louder Than War
about the recordings of DM. A half-hour of funny quotes and crazy anecdotes
and even praise for his brother.
“When I would sing the song, it would sound good,
when Liam would sing it, it would sound great.”
At the end of last year, our kid LIAM GALLAGHER announced a handful of UK arena
shows (4 nights in London) for this month, to celebrate the 30th birthday of Oasis‘ masterpiece debut LP Definitely, Maybe.
All shows sold out in no time. TUTV was lucky to get
one for last Thursday, June 6, in London at the O2.
This was not a regular concert, it was a celebration of one of the greatest debut albums ever, by one of the greatest bands in rock ever, performed (including B-sides of the singles, a Noel tribute (!!), and Beatles cover ‘I’m The Walrus’) by one of the greatest frontmen ever.

– LIVE FOREVER –
3 generations were present for a sort of Best Of The Oasis Proms. I saw 12-16 year old teenagers with their mum or dad or both, 25-40 years old fans who weren’t born or were too young back then to hear/see the Gallaghers & Co taking the UK by storm in the early 90s, and 50-70 years old people who were there when the band started their turbulent journey that ended in 2009.
All together, 20.000 fanatic fans welcomed Liam as a hero. Every individual present, (including me, of course), old and young, sober and drunk, sang every single word of
every single song along. It was absolutely fantastic to be there amidst that euphoric
mass. I never experienced so much love, joy and togetherness at a concert.
People hugged each other (I also got some), put their arms around the shoulders of friends/family and smiled from left to right and back. I’m still amazed, even after years
of going to concerts, that music still has that enormous power to unite people.
We all felt SUPERSONIC!
The set included some B-sides, a Noel Gallagher & his High Flying Birds cover
and The Beatles ‘I’m The Walrus, which Oasis played a lot in the early days.

Already at the end of last year, our kid LIAM announced a handful
of UK arena shows for this month, to celebrate the 30th birthday
of Oasis‘s masterpiece debut LP Definitely, Maybe.
All concerts sold out in no time. And I got lucky to get one for
tomorrow night, June 6, in London at the 20.000 cap O2 arena.
On 29 August, Manchester‘s heroes OASIS‘ supreme
life-celebrating debut LPDEFINITELY, MAYBE celebrates
its 30th birthday.
One of the best debuts ever. It came at a perfect moment as The Stone Roses blew their minds on drugs for five years after their astonishing 1989 debut LP and only delivered a half great second longplayer 3 months after the Gallagher brothers took the vacant place with D,M stuffed with spot-on anthems which fans are still singing word by word 30 years later.
On such occasions as this, a deluxe anniversary reissue is unavoidable.
So be it here too.
A limited edition of 4LP and 2CD plus exclusive coloured vinyl will see the day of
light on 30 August. It’ll feature unheard versions from the original discarded album session at Monnow Valley and outtakes from the definitive recording at Sawmills Studios, newly mixed for the first time by Noel. It will also be available on limited-edition blue cassette and digital formats. More info and pre-order details here.
This image below appeared on the social OASIS media without any caption
or message. Of course, it led immediately to all kind of speculations about a
possible reunion.
Quickly it transpired that it’s aerial footage of Sawmills Music Studio in Cornwall, England, where the band did recording sessions for Definitely Maybe, their staggering debut album, that kick-started all Oasis mania.
And here’s the thing. The LP celebrates its 30th birthday on August 30.
I guess the mystery is solved. The image is a teaser for an anniversary
reissue of DM.
Btw, already in October of last year, Liam Gallagher announced big concerts
in the UK/Ireland to celebrate the 30th birthday of Definitely, Maybe, playing it
in full. All concerts sold out in an eye blink.
He’ll be a rock ‘n’ roll star again, but on his own, again.
