The Irish mavericks are the cover stars of the new DIY Magazine
issue and talked about their new upcoming longplayer.

Interview HERE.

DIY:In just five years, Fontaines DC have gone from promising post-punk newcomers
to one of the most celebrated, consistently evolving bands of the decade. Restless, curious,
and disinterested in ever taking the path oft-travelled, fourth album ‘Romance’ finds the
Irish quintet reshaping themselves and challenging everything that’s come before.”

This week’s 10 new rad additions.

Band: FONTAINES D.C.
Who: Irish indie heroes from Dublin gearing up for their
4th LP, titled Romance. It’ll hit the streets on August 23rd.

Track: FAVOURITE

Grian Chatten (frontman) “This never-ending sound to it, a continuous
cycle from euphoria to sadness, two worlds spinning forever.”

Instagram

Band: LIINES
Who: Post-punk duo who have built a reputation as one of the most
exciting acts to emerge from Manchester playing frenetic, electric shows
across the UK and Europe.

Track: HOLDING ON

“It’s a song about hope and desperation. Where you realise something
you want is never going to happen. But without hope, you have nothing.”

.
Linktree

Band: THE MYSTERINES
Who: Fast up-and-coming post-punks from Liverpool aiming
for the indie top with their 2nd LP Afraid From Tomorrows,
out this Friday, June 21st.

Track: THE LAST DANCE

Linktree

Artist: SEASICK STEVE
Who: 73-year old blues rambler from California who just launched
his 12th LP, named A Trip A Stumble A Fall Down On Your Knees.

Track: BACKBONE SLIP

.
Linktree

Band: BOBBY MAHONEY
Who: 4 lively alt-rockers from
Central New Jersey.

Track: ANOTHER DEADBEAT SUMMER
The title song from their brand-new steamy debut
album Another Deadbeat Summer.

“‘Another Deadbeat Summer’ was originally written in two sittings- in 2014 I started
the song alone in my dorm room at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ, and
then finished it with Jon Alba at my parents house later. The song is about a wild high
school party, and the observations I made as an attendee, feeling like an outsider.”

Band: VICKY VON VICKY
Who: Indie quartet from Toronto (CA)
that originated in the late 1990s.

Track: BE STILL MY HEART
From their brand new 5-track EP Broken Chairs.

“A song is about someone talking to their soul or heart, and getting them to try
to calm down or take stock of where they are in life. In some ways the narrator
has not been true to themselves, i.e. the separation from their heart and what
makes them human.”

Artist: THE COSMIC GOSPEL
Who: Italian psych-rock project. The name is
a metaphor for the perversion of certain love
relationships.

Single: I SEW YOUR EYES SO YOU DON’T SEE ME HOW I EAT YOUR HEART
Title track from last year’s album, now coming back with a brand-new video.

The song tells the story of a love that has transformed into something visceral and completely deviant, culminating in cannibalism, with a strong desire to inflict as much harm as possible on the other person, even resorting to esoteric practices.

The accompanying clip features The Cosmic Gospel as the only protagonist, presented
as both a human and a reptile, echoing the album’s title from which the track is taken.

Band: iNNUENDO
Who: Irish indie unit founded in 2022. Their goal is to create a captivating and dynamic atmosphere with melodically compelling and distinct original songs, all while honouring classic and modern influences.

Their debut EP, named On Occasion and landing in September via Blowtorch Records.

Track: clear motion

Band: TONTO
Who: Scottish indies who will
release their new EP next September

Track: LIVERPOOL

.
Linktree

Band: TINDERSTICKS
Who: Midnight crooners from Birmingham (UK)
who have been around since 1992.

Track: NANCY
From their upcoming 14th LP, baptized Soft Issue. It’s out on September 13.

FONTAINES D.C. Drop Another Track From New Forthcoming LP – Hear Jangly Chant ‘FAVOURITE’ Here

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

Irish indie stars FONTAINES D.C. already have 3 top-tier LPs on their résumé. And number 4 is waiting in the pipeline. They titled it ROMANCE and will hit the streets on August 23rd. Pre-order info here.

Conor Deegan (bassist) “We’ve always had this sense of idealism and romance.
Each album gets further away from observing that through the lens of Ireland, as
directly as Dogrel. The second album is about that detachment, and the third is
about Irishness dislocated in the diaspora. Now we look to where and what else
there is to be romantic about.”

Following the first single, the layered rap and musing jam Starburster comes another preview. FAVOURITE is a jangly chant reminding my ears of earlier The Strokes riff rockers.

Grian Chatten (frontman) “This never-ending sound to it, a continuous
cycle from euphoria to sadness, two worlds spinning forever.”

Wake up people,
here’s your new
favourite track.
