The Original FLEETWOOD MAC Released Their Sultry Blues Rock Debut Album 55 Years Ago Today
Back in time
24 February 2023
The original FLEETWOOD MAC, formed in 1967, was a whole different affair than
the second line-up (from 1975 on) with Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham added to original members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and the late Christine McVie who joined FM in 1970.

From left to right: John McVie, Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, Jeremy Spencer and Danny Kirwan
The band was then also popularly known as Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac because
singer-songwriter-guitarist Peter Green (1946-2020) was the voice/face of the band.
Their eponymous debut LP was released 55 years ago today, on 24 February 1968.
A sultry blues rock record featuring, besides original compositions, also covers of
classics by black blues pioneers such as Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson, and Elmore James. Despite the fact that there wasn’t a hit single on, the LP peaked at #4 in the UK.

Great songwriter, great voice, great pianist, great performer, great presence..
CHRISTINE McVIE, born Christine Perfect in Bouth, Lancashire, England on
12 July 1943 has passed away today, 30 November, after a short illness,
aged 79.
R.I.P.
The official statement by her band Fleetwood Mac.
The first great group she played with was the British blues band Chicken Shack.
She also made a couple of solo LPs back then. She married John McVie (co-founder
and bassist of Fleetwood Mac) in 1968, joined FM, and divorced him in 1976.
She’s, of course, best known as one of the singer-songwriters of Fleetwood Mac II
along with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham she made one of the best-selling LP’s
in rock history with Rumours (1977).
Three great moments

Waking Up With… HAIM Sisters Going Mental With FLEETWOOD MAC Cover
Works faster than caffeine
The power-pop sisters HAIM made a big name for themselves over the past
10 years with 3 albums and explosive live shows. Here’s an example of the L.A.
ladies’ dashing antics on stage with a bold cover of Fleetwood Mac‘s 1969 hit
Oh Well (written/sung by the late great blues soul PeterGreen).
Nnot an easy song to cover with its rollercoaster progression, forth and back,
and Green‘s blistering guitar flurry. But the girls pull it off with aplomb and vigor.
Get up and cheer, ladies and gents…

Quote Of The Day – The Late Great PETER GREEN About The Blues
Amazing Artwork – FLEETWOOD MAC 1969
Eye-catching album cover art
The original FLEETWOOD MAC line-up (1967-1974) fronted by singer/songwriter Peter Green (1946-2020) was all about raw-riff blues-rock. They scored their greatest hits with magic ballad Albatross, the bewitching mid-tempo Black Magic Woman and the jaw-dropping classic Oh Well.
Back in 1969, the band released a compilation called English Rose
with founder and drummer Mick Fleetwood in drag on the cover.
One of those FM I classics, OH WELL
