Welch: “As an artist, I never actually thought about my gender that much.
I just got on with it. I was as good as the men and I just went out there and
matched them every time. But now, thinking about being a woman in my
30s and the future… I suddenly feel this tearing of my identity and my desires.
That to be a performer, but also to want a family might not be as simple for me
as it is for my male counterparts. I had modeled myself almost exclusively on male
performers, and for the first time I felt a wall come down between me and my idols
as I have to make decisions they did not.”
King is a towering accomplishment. An epic gem
with Florence‘s vocal tenseness going sky-high.
FLORENCE + THE MACHINE revealed previously unreleased track ‘LIGHT OF LOVE‘.
A spirited beauty from the sessions of her 2018 longplayer High As Hope.
Florence wrote on her Instagram account “It never made it to the record, but I thought I would release it at midnight tonight, as a little token of my love, and to raise awareness
for the Intensive Care Society, which provides care and support for the incredible doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals on the front line of this crisis. I will be donating all
of my income from this song to the Intensive Care Society. I love and miss you all so much.
With you in spirit from South London lockdown.”
