GLIXEN – Phoenix Shoegazers Built Wall-Of-Layers Sound On New Hypnotizing Piece ‘FOREVERSOON’
New striking strokes
10 February 2024
Band: GLIXEN
Who: Shoegaze band from Phoenix, Arizona whose sound consists of tender melodies encased inside chrome walls of grungy textures and heavy guitars. Founder and lead vocalist, Aislinn Ritchie, began the project in 2020 enlisting guitarist Esteban Santana, drummer Keire Johnson, and bassist Sonia Garcia. Emerging from a scene of local DIY artists, the band’s unique sound and look set them apart allowing them to perform in cities across the United States playing alongside bands like Narrow Head, Cowgirl Clue, MSPaint, Hotline TNT, and They’re Gutting A Body of Water.
The band released its notable 6-track debut EP She Only Said. They are currently working on their sophomore EP, due for release this year. Ahead of it comes the first new piece FOREVERSOON.
TUTV: There are so many buzzing guitar layers that it sounds as if My Bloody Valentine‘s noise mastermind Kevin Shields has produced this psychedelic jam. On foreversoon Glixen create an illusional atmosphere with ghostly vocals that seem to come out of a thick fog. Its hallucinatory effect is mind-boggling, dazzling, and hypnotizing. Reality and surreality are interwoven. Spiritual stuff.
