He Did It His Way – FRANK SINATRA Passed Away 25 Years Ago Today
14 May 2023
25 years ago today American singer/actor FRANK SINATRA passed
away in Los Angeles, aged 82, after suffering a heart attack.
He was born Francis Albert Sinatra in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1915. He was a succesful
actor but even more succesful as The Voice, his nickname for being such a fabulous crooner. He scored over 25 Top 40 singles including his 1969 hit MY WAY (more than
360 million streams on Spotify), that re-entered the UK charts eight times and spent
a total of 165 weeks on the charts.
The song was an adaption of French chanson C’omme D’Habitude
composed in 1967 by Jacques Revaux with lyrics by Gilles Thibaut and
and famous French singer Claude François.
Once again, Frank.

Waking Up… MY WAY (Comme D’Habitude)
Works faster than caffeine
Yoohoo. I’m having holidays in the sun in the South
of France, so let’s have some French music.
Do you know the origin of FRANK SINATRA‘s blockbuster
hit MY WAY (288 million streams on Spotify)?
It’s his cover of a French song called COMME D’HABITUDE (“As Usual”).
A song about routine in a relationship falling out of love composed by
French songwriter Jacques Revaux, with lyrics by French pop star
CLAUDE FRANCOIS who made it a big hit in 1967.
A year later the song was played to Canadian crooner Paul Anka who loved
it on the spot. He wrote new lyrics for it, passed it on to The Golden Voice who
cemented it for eternity. His most famous and iconic performance ever.
