Waking Up… In A Funky Town
Works faster than caffeine
Animated comedy movie Minions: The Rise Of Gru ,
part of the Despicable Me franchise will hit the screens
on July 1.
The soundtrack of the film features big stars, covering 60s and 70s hits,
such as Tame Impala & Diana Ross, Phoebe Bridges, Bleachers and H.E.R.
Also part of the party is ST. VINCENT who picked 1980 disco hit
FUNKYTOWN written by producer Steven Greenberg and turned
into a global blockbuster by three whirling Minneapolis ladies known
as LIPPS INC. (a pun on the term ‘lip sync’)
Shake it, St. Vincent…
My vote goes to the original. It’s fully elated and irresistibly catching and
the video clip that promoted the mega prizewinner with the dancing queens’
glorious body moves back then (from a 1980 TV show) is fantastic.
No stiff upper lips here…
