GALLUS – Scottish Post-Punk Team Back With Smashing Slam Dunk ‘DEPRESSED BEYOND TABLETS’

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

29 November 2024

šŸ“ø Elliot Hetherton

Band: GALLUS
Who: Rambunctious post-punk 5-piece from Glasgow, Scotland
formed in 2017. Last year they released their debut longplayer
We Don’t Like The People We’ve Become.

New single: DEPRESSED BEYOND TABLETS

Barry Dolan: “ā€˜Depressed Beyond Tablets’ came from a line Eamon and I found funny in
Brass Eye. We were inspired to explore the feeling of finding yourself beyond the tolerable
limits of the world and not having anything within your control. It’s almost like realising
there’s no point in trying to right the wrongs in your life with medicine or self-help and
wanting to experience actual change—treating the cause, not the symptom.ā€

Wake up people,
Gallus are back,
they’ll smash your
bedroom wall.

GALLUS – Rowdy Scottish Gunslingers Kicked Ass In Ghent Belgium

11 April 2023

Band: GALLUS
Who: Rowdy post-punk 5-piece from Glasgow, Scotland
This hit team formed in early 2017, and released, so far,
a series of smash singles.

Where: Trefpunt Club Ghent, Belgium
When: 9 April 2023

TUTV: These young Scottish post-punk gunslingers kicked ass from
the very start to the bloody finish. No breaks, no brakes, no mistakes.
Frontman John has a similar stage presence as Fat White Family‘s madman
Lias Sauodi, meaning that he screams his lungs, heart, and soul out, and
he spits and sneers as sharply as Mark E. Smith.

An idea of their live pizzaz

With two guitarists, one bassist and one drummer they developed a huge
wall-of-barbed-wire bluster that does your head in. Their sucker-punch energy
filled the small hot club for 40 minutes. Totally awesome.

“I’ve got my eyes on you”

And the best news of the night was that the Glasgow
gang will have their debut album out in June. Can’t wait.

Meanwhile, their new fucktastic uppercut EYE TO EYE will keep me happy.

Scottish Hungry Post-Punk Wolves GALLUS With New Slam Dunk ‘EYE TO EYE’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

14 March 2023

GALLUS is a rowdy post-punk 5-piece from Glasgow, Scotland. A hit team
formed in early 2017, and that released, so far, a series of smashing singles
with a new slam dunk just out (below).

I heard/saw the band for the first time last October in Antwerp,
Belgium.
A kickass gig that made me an instant fan.

Why? Because these hungry wolves went on a motherockin’ roll from
the very start to the bloody finish. No breaks, no breaks, no mistakes with
frontman John ranting like the best, backed by a red-hot-smoking turbo.

One of the peak moments of the set came with a horsepower uppercut named
EYE TO EYE, now blasting on my earphones as their new single. It’s a furious fucktastic jackhammer. Drum-manic, riff-crazy, bass-pumping and John‘s vox right in your face
as expected. Can’t wait to see them again next month in my hometown Ghent, Belgium.

Here we go.
