GARBAGE Shares New Song ‘DESTROYING ANGELS’ Written With Legendary L.A. Band X…

New sonic impulses

5 January 2019

GARBAGE just shared, digitally, a song called DESTROYING ANGELS co-written with
Exene Cervenka and John Doe of legendary Los Angeles band X and was released first exclusively on 3000 vinyl copies for ‘Record Store Day: Black Friday‘ last November. It’s
a heartrending song described by Garbage as a murder ballad. The new single’s B-side
is a glowing and gracious cover of David Bowie’s ‘Starman’, taken from a Garbage radio broadcast early last year. Listen to both alluring little pearls right here…

GARBAGE Released Their Glowing Sophomore Album ‘VERSION 2.0’ Twenty Years Ago…

Going back in sonic history looking for memorable albums…

9 May 2018

BAND: GARBAGE

ALBUM: VERSION 2.0

RELEASED: 11 May 1998 – 20 years ago

PRESS:

Rolling Stone: “The songwriting has improved, but Manson remains the highlight,
her seductive, emotive singing evoking new wave greats and appropriating the band’s
complex sounds into a well-crafted, original rock album”

Spin: “The songs are better developed than on the band’s debut, while showcasing
their passionate, avant-garde sounds and Manson’s personalized yet relatable lyric…”

The Village Voice: “The metallic, discordant music suits Manson’s aggressive
sexuality and allows listeners to experience sadomasochism vicariously through.”

The Age: “Personality loaded” sonic spectacle… the album
salutes the new millennium with futuristic nuance…”

Time:The music is exceptional because of the songs that are
gloomy and sexual yet lively and introspective.”

TURN UP THE VOLUME says: “A turbulent work of mixed emotions and amplified
pop exorcism. Both gloomy and bright, heavy-hearted and elevating, flamboyant
and magnetic with Shirley Manson as the charismatic, outspoken and hypnotizing
femme fatale in the middle of it all.”

THREE TOP TRACKS: I Think I’m Paranoid / Push It / Dumb

* I THINK I’M PARANOIDtimeless insanity

Here’s GARBAGE With That Beautiful Spooky Diamond… ‘BELOVED FREAK’

Gripping musings for the laziest day of the week…

18 March 2018

G5

2018 Godlike NME genius SHIRLEY MANSON said at the time that BELOVED FREAK
was actually about the band, about GARBAGE“In a funny way, I think that’s a song to ourselves. As a band, we’ve always felt a little misunderstood, and we realize, even with this
new record, it’s sort of the same situation. We’re just oddballs, and we always will be. At this point in our lives, rather than feel like victims of being left out, we’re like, ‘F–k it!’ We’re renegades. We’re doing things on our own terms, and that’s fine.

Here’s that spooky diamond. One of Turn Up The Volume’s‘s fav Garbage pearls…

You’re not certain when you feel hurt
Get violent when you deal
With how the world drags you along
You’re not alone

Nothing good was ever free
No one gets it, no one sees
So here you stand, beloved freak
You’re not alone
You’re not alone
You’re not alone
Sometimes we get so tired and weak
We lose the sky beneath our feet
You’re not alone

Every comet throws an arc
And scars our vision ‘cross the dark
When we’re gone we will remain
You’re not alone

People lie and people steal
They misinterpret how you feel
And so we doubt and we conceal
You’re not alone

Don’t worry for me
Just think of yourself, think of yourself
Don’t worry for me
Just think of yourself, think of yourself

When we’re gone we will remain
When we’re gone we will remain
When we’re gone we will remain
When we’re gone we will remain

So here you stand, beloved freak
The world is at your feet
Here you stand, beloved freak
The world is at your feet

This little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine
This little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine
This little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

And so you stand, beloved freak
The world is lying at your feet
There you stand, beloved freak
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine
