Brian Epstein was their manager and they recorded with fifth Beatle
George Martin. The band split in 1966, but reformed in 1972 for
a long run, until 2018. Marsden passed away 2 years ago, aged 78.

Rodgers and Hammerstein in 1945.
The Pacemakers’ version hit the top spot of the UK Singles Charts 60 years ago
today, on 31 October 1963. It was also #1 in New Zealand, Australia and Ireland.
After becoming a hit the song gained popularity and
quickly became the football anthem of Liverpool F.C.
