TUTV said: “It’s Matt Berninger all right, crooning stories about his life, past and present.
His mellow and tender timbre is everywhere. All songs are stylistically polished, silkily orchestrated, while bluesy horns add a warm feel on a regular basis. Most of them could
easily be The National tunes. Leonard Cohen‘s muse is omnipresent. Impassioned intimacy
in motion.”
This week Berninger was a guest on the The Daily Show (US).
He performed Inland Ocean , the beautiful opener of the LP.
Press info: “His songwriting has long garnered praise for its poignant clarity, jagged-edged
wit and intimately emotive melodies. ‘Get Sunk’ is not an autobiographical album, but the narrator is processing how he became himself. Who is he compared to the kid on that sepia-toned farm? What is his idea of happiness? What the hell are we all searching for? Get Sunk is an ode to the infinite. The others that make us who we are; the possibilities our paths can take and the abyss of both misery and bliss.”

UNCUT (British music monthly): “The National frontman sails through different
waters on follow-up to 2020’s Serpentine Prison.takes. He takes an emotional deep
dive. Uncharacteristic moves brings an intriguing dimension to Berninger’s inward-
peering persona.”

But a couple of weeks ago the nostalgic Cincinnati crooner announced
a follow-up. It’s titled Get Sunk and will come our way May 30. More info here.
With INLAND OCEANBerninger presents the LP’s third taster.
A smooth, groovy and catchy musing to whistle, hum or sing
along. When you think now that he’s happy, read the song
lines below and think twice.
Everything ends before I want it to
I needed more time alone with you
Isn’t there anything I can do?
Everything ends before I want it to
I needed more time alone with you
Isn’t there anything I can do?
Everything ends before I want it to
(God loves the inland ocean, lost cause)
Before I want it to
(God loves the inland ocean, lost cause)
Before I want it to
(God loves the inland ocean, lost cause)
[Chorus] God loves the inland ocean
Lost cause, I have no emotion
God loves the inland ocean
Lost cause, I have no emotion
No emotion
No emotion
But finally the Cincinnati crooner returns with a follow-up.

Matt: “Our hearts are like old wells filled with pennies and worms. I can’t resist
going down to the bottom of mine to see what else is there. But sometimes you
can get yourself stuck.”
First single BONNET OF PINS is a surprisingly upbeat tune.
Something we rarely hear from Berninger. And it feels good,
really good.
