Top singles from the past

50 years ago today living legend NEIL YOUNG scored a number one hit
on the US Singles Chart with one of his best-known songs HEART OF GOLD
from his masterwork Harvest album.

The song features backup vocals by James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt and was
performed acoustically by Young as a result of a back injury. Unable to stand
for long periods of time, Young could not play his electric guitar.

YOU ARE NUMBER SIX – French Synth Pop Outfit Has A ‘Heart Of Gold’ For Legend NEIL YOUNG…

6 March 2019

YOU ARE NUMBER SIX is a French electronic collective from Montpellier with a colorful taste for atmospheric synth-pop waves. They are working on their new EP but made time to cover one of NEIL YOUNG‘s timeless classics, also his greatest hit ever, No 1 in the US, HEART OF GOLD. Maybe folk purists will raise their eyebrows on hearing this vibey and new wave-ish interpretation but I’m sure the diehard Young fans will immediately think
of their hero’s experimental 1982 album TRANS when the legend employed a vocoder
to synthesize his voice on some of the tracks. To my ears, this smooth You Are Number
Six
cover with its sensual duet vocals fits right in there on that misinterpreted longplayer. Check it out for yourself right here…
