Happy 81 To Pop Genius PAUL McCARTNEY

18 June 2023

Former Beatle and grand pop singer/songwriter/composer
PAUL McCARTNEY is 81 today. He was born in Liverpool
on 18 June 1942.

Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most influential artists ever with
an immense and astounding canon. With all what Sir Macca realized musically,
in the first place with the immortal fab four The Beatles, afterward with Wings
and his numerous solo albums he achieved, rightly so, a Godlike genius status.

3 big moments.

IDLES Trash THE BEATLES Punk Song HELTER SKELTER

31 August 2020

Bristol punks IDLES release their third grand slam album ULTRA MOON on 25th September. To keep us happy in the meantime they invaded the legendary Abbey Road studios in London to have some noisy fun. One of the session’s recordings is a crushing cover of The Beatles’ only punk song HELTER SKELTER (actually written and sung by pretty boy Paul McCartney).

Idles kicked the song in the ass, punched it against
the wall and trashed it the way they like it.

Yeahhhhhhh…

Best Band Of The Nineties Covering The Best Band Of All Time…

11 May 2020

It’s no secret that the Kain and Abel brothers of rock ‘n’ roll, aka Liam & Noel Gallagher were big fans of THE BEATLES. The best band ever in history (in my book) with Liam
loving John Lennon that much that at one time, according to Noel, he started to talk
with a Liverpool accent. Mad for it as usual.

So it’s no wonder that OASIS – the best band of the 90s (also in my book) – covered
several classic songs by The Fab Four. I selected three of the best. Sing along right
here, right now…

– YOU’VE GOT TO HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY –
(Noel solo under the Oasis banner)

– I AM THE WALRUS –
(Steamy live version – London 1995)

– HELTER SKELTER –
(Live in Tornto, 2000)

SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES – Goth Punks Released Debut LP ‘THE SCREAM’ 40 Years Ago…

Going back in sonic history looking for memorable albums…

12 November 2018

Band: SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES

Album: THE SCREAM – debut longplayer

Released: 13 November 1978 – 40 years ago

ALL MUSIC review: “After building up an intense live reputation and a rabid fan base,
Siouxsie and the Banshees almost had to debut with a stunner, which they did, “Hong Kong Garden” taking care of things on the singles front and The Scream on the full-length. Matched with a downright creepy cover and a fair enough early producing effort from Steve Lillywhite, well before he found gated drum sounds, it’s a fine balance of the early band’s talents. Siouxsie Sioux herself shows the distinct, commanding voice and lyrical meditations on fractured lives and situations that would win her well-deserved attention over the years.”

TURN UP THE VOLUME! says: Most controversial, bizarre and weirdly attractive debut punk album I experienced. Voodoo-like stuff and black magic. Dazzling!
