Denver‘s indie rockers AMERICAN CULTURE who describe themselves as C86ers
that sound nothing like C86 and a band serving as a Trojan horse for poetry since
2014, are gearing up for their 3rd LP. They named it HEY BROTHER IT’S BEEN A WHILE and will hit the streets on May 3 via Convulse Records.

Press info: “Hey Brother, It’s Been A While” is a record of invitingly idiosyncratic punk psychedelia, imbued with a real humanity and compassion that’s been hard earned through life and death stakes. Sonically, American Culture effortlessly weaves the band’s many influences into one cohesive sound, conjuring up an endless array of rock music fantasy scenarios.

What if The Stone Roses were fronted by Jim Carroll? What if Spiritualized and
The Replacements wrote music together? What if The Meat Puppets were a C86
band?. Lyrically the album is an unflinching exploration of a truly harrowing
period of time for co-vocalist/guitarist Michael Stein.

Chris Adolf (co-vocalist/guitarist): “Michael was homeless last year–he was a missing person for three months. We thought he was dead. So a lot of his songs are about that experience, and then my songs are about the other end–thinking my friend is gone. It’s almost as if we were writing back and forth.”

We already could taste Let It Go, a splendid mid-tempo psych banger.
And here’s new track #2. SURVIVE is about Stein looking back at his
personal troubles and his wish to survive.

The band jingles and jangles all the way through your speakers with vibrant brio
like J Mascis did/does his whole career. Its subtle pop melodiousness sticks from
the kick-off while Stein tells us about his past demons and his future intention.

It made me think immediately of the uncertain future
of American culture within a devastatingly divided USA.
Will the country survive?
