The song’s inner juxtaposition represents an inspiring journey
from darkness to light, from pessimism to optimism, and from
renouncement to embracement.
From their new, upcoming LP False Lankrum, out 24 March.
“Our interpretation of the traditional song “Go Dig My Grave” is one that
centers around the emotion of grief – all-consuming, unbearable and absolute.
A visceral physical reaction to something that the body and mind are almost incapable
of processing. The second part of the song is inspired by the Irish tradition of keening
from the Irish caoineadh, a traditional form of lament for the deceased. Regarded by
some as opening up “perilous channels of communication with the dead,” the practice
came under severe censure from the Catholic Church in Ireland from the 17th century on.”
Band: GEL New Jersey hardcore motherrockers. Track: ATTAINABLE
It’s the lead single from new, upcoming
album Only Constant, out 31 March.
Sami Kaiser (vocalist) about the new LP “I’ve been in recovery for
alcoholism for the past couple years and really taking it seriously. I’ve
learned a lot about myself and how to address negative feelings, and
the album is about trying to let go of those self-destructive tendencies
and embrace change.”
There are not a lot of female hardcore voices
around, and defintely not like Sami Kaiser‘s one.
Carter: “‘Parasite’ was conceived on a particularly brutal trip to the seaside
where both Dean and I were in a difficult time in our lives and feeling low”
Scream it out, guys…

Band: THUMPER Who: Maximalist rockers
from Dublin, Ireland
“It’s a vignette of self sabotage, an anthem of small failure. It’s about a doomed relationship that carries on regardless — a narrator banging on the glass trying
to warn the song’s inhabitants. Each melody and hook competes for space over
an ever expanding wall of guitars, bass and their signature double drums. In just
over three minutes, “Summer Assault” sees THUMPER boil their trademark noise
wall into an earworm of a pop song.”
Expect a concrete wall-of-schizophrenic-guitar sound, enough twists and turns
to make your head spin uncontrollably and a gigantic chorus spiced with flustered
vocals.
New Jersey’s Veteran indie rockers YO LA TENGO (already in action since 1984)
have a new album in the pipeline, their 16th. It’s named Stupid World p, planned
to land in February 2023.
First taster FALLOUT is pure YLT. Jangly guitars rotating on and on and Ira Kaplan
signing his story all over the hurried flow. Another familiar psych jam from masters
of the genre.
Let’s roll…

Pithy rock girl meets pithy rock boy for a pithy pop-to-rock cry-out called I’M A MESS.
the song we’re about to drop is full on lookin out the window of your parents car pretendin you’re in a music video vibes.
Who: Manchester-based troubadour Christopher Eatough who returned in 2017, having spent several years away from the music scene, emerged from his struggle with mental health with a raft of new material and a renewed sense of romantic fatalism. Determined to find a like-minded, ragtag collective of musicians to help bring the songs to life, Eatough brought friends and musicians from across the Northwest together. So far the collective canned/released 2 albums:Old Songs For The New Celibacy (2017) and Book Of Want (2021).
“The track bursts with Tragicomics’ swaggering, earthy take on folk-rock. Their diverse influences – ranging from pop, folk and rock to tin pan alley, prog and Americana – shine brightly as off-kilter rock guitar is combined effortlessly with Eatough’s charismatic vocals,
the soaring soundscapes of violin, gritty bass lines and relentless drum beat.”
Put on your blue suede punk-rock shoes, you’ll need them to dance, jump,
pogo, and pirouette when this super-duper corker hits your ears. Romantic
or not it’s going apeshit time for everyone who wants to let steam off for
4 minutes.
The hardest working band on the planet KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD
– 15 albums in 11 years – launch this month, not one, not two, but three new LPs.
First Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lave this Friday, Laminated Denim next
week and in two weeks Changes
I don’t know what these guys eat, drink, sniff or
swallow, but their production is off the charts.
To start their coming triple tour de force discover new single, and
the awesome, eye-catching accompanying video clip IRON LUNG…
Band: POSE Who: A trio having come from backgrounds covering indie pop, grunge, and post-punk, POSE have unearthed a collective sonic understanding that bridges elements of hard-hitting alternative rock, scintillating pop, and grandiose soundscaping. This culminates in
a sound which blends Ruby’s ‘hypnotic yet soulful’ voice over music which is full to the brim of ‘teeth and claws’.
Throughout the song the vocals vary from in intensity, sometimes floating airily
above the music while at other times digging in with aggression and emotion and eventually all out shouting. The lyrics offer a subtle introspection over the role schools
and societies play in sculpting children into teenagers, almost as though they’ve come straight off of a production line.
This is a spectacular stunner, an astonishing roller coaster, a staggering
mixed emotions hellraiser combining insane guitars with dream pop luster.
Lana Del Rey going Gothic? Yes, but via singer-songwriter Ronan Conray
who turns her gripping 2012 ballad Dark Paradise into a darkwavish Goth-pop
tune, inflaming emotions with a synth-symphonic chorus.
Artists: TFD Who: As they claim themselves “It was beyond time for a band
to form from the ashes of long-dead late-80s joy and now one has.”
“We wrote this tune in less time than it takes to listen to it.”
TFD love total fucking darkness, and I’m sure they love the shadowy side
of British synth-dream-pop icons Pet Shop Boys too. They sound brisk, ghostly
and romantic all at the same time, and also sensually catchy. Touchdown.
How do I hide that I still love you?
Headed blind into the light and you’re coming to,
to live in the clouds with the cherubim,
you can be an angel and I’ll be Him.
No less than 33 songs, which will be revealed one at a time
chronologically via a new podcast called Thirty-ThreeWith Billy Corgan leading up to the album’s launching.
The first taster is a piece called BEGUILED.
A mid-tempo banger with a rotating heavy metal riff.
C’mon, Billy.

Artist: JAI BEAM Who: Musician/producer/engineer from studio NJ Sound in River Edge, NJ
“I wrote this song about my good friend Nicole who is dying of cancer and
autoimmune disease. She is an amazing person who is so full of life and joy
even though she’s been given up until 5 years to live. She infuses 70,000 people’s
white blood cells every week to stay alive because if she didn’t she could die of a
simple paper cut to her finger. Nicole is such a loving and free person who faces
death every day with strength and vigor. This song is dedicated to her and her life.”
It’s a hypnotic electronic jam with Krautrock-like dynamics.
May the road rise with Nicole…

Band: SUEDE New album: Autofiction
Their 9th LP. Their best in years.
Epic stuff. Released last week.
Band: MAGNA ZERO Who: Lifelong friends and bandmates who explore what it means to be human through the music of Magna Zero. A journey through a metaphorical black hole with the band as they meld an unforgettable musical experience into their colorful cauldron of Space Rock.
It’s a song for peace, calling on us all to find the common ground that can help heal the division that threatens further hatred, war, and genocide in the world today. The music video juxtaposes imagery of violence and destruction with scenes of human connection, friendship, and family to highlight the deepest bonds between each other as a starting point on the path to peace.
Once upon a time, R.E.M. sang about the end of the world as we know it. Humankind survived since then, but Doomsday glares again at the horizon. Pandemics, wars, intolerance, racism, and so forth. It doesn’t look good… again. Only together we
can change the threatening tide.
We Are All is an amplified darkwave stroke with an ominous tone and
a shadowy feel, yet it’s about hope, about us all, about our future.
