Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine
The imperishable punk Godfather IGGY POP (now aged 77 – well, a life of
sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll didn’t hurt the former Stooge) was a guest on the
BBC Radio 6 Music show last week, he played amongst other stuff a track
from death-metal band ULCERATE from New Zealand.
TO SEE DEATH ONCE
Aaaaarrrrggghhhhhh!
British pop legend TOYAH WILLCOX and her beloved partner and King Crimson
guitar wizard ROBERT FRIPP are still in the kitchen at parties, for almost 4 years
now. Their weekly Sunday Lunch Cover Sessions started back in April to kill time
in that awful Covid-19 lockdown year.
What they have done since is make us laugh to tears with their both hilarious and
utterly cool performances. They already covered tons of classic songs by classic artists/bands and there is no way of stopping them. Yes, it only takes two to tango.
Yesterday they slashed and trashed The Stooges classic Search And Destroy.
Watch Fripp‘s eyes rollin’ again from left to right and back
when seeing his colorful punk wife going berserk.
Original
Still rockin’ in the free world.

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant
The punk Godfather IGGY POP scored a timeless classic with
THE PASSENGER from his superb 1977 LP Lust For Life .
Over the years it was covered multiple times. One of the best is
by Siouxsie And The Banshees who covered it for their greatest
hits album Through The Looking Glass in 1987.
Now Pop and Siouxsie recorded a new version of the song together for an ice cream commercial. They slowed it down and gave it an extra glammy and glittery treatment.
It’ll make them a lot of money, but it’s a pretty lukewarm version. The original and
the Banshees 1987 take are untouchable. I rather wake up with those versions
on my headphones than this MAGNUM one.

the authentic Godfather of Punk.
Wake up people,
and have some
lust for life.
Here comes Johnny Yen again
With the liquor and drugs
And a flesh machine
He’s gonna do another striptease
Hey man, where’d you get that lotion?
I’ve been hurting since I bought the gimmick
About something called love
Yeah, something called love
Well, that’s like hypnotizing chickens
Well, I’m just a modern guy
Of course, I’ve had it in the ear before
Been on a lust for life
‘Cause of a lust for life
I’m worth a million in prizes
With my torture film
Drive a G.T.O.
Wear a uniform
All on a government loan
I’m worth a million in prizes
Yeah, I’m through with sleeping on the sidewalk
No more beating my brains
No more beating my brains
With the liquor and drugs
With the liquor and drugs
Well, I’m just a modern guy
Of course, I’ve had it in my ear before
‘Cause of a lust for life (lust for life)
‘Cause of a lust for life (ooh)
I’ve got a lust for life (ooh)
Got a lust for life (ooh)

Band: MELT MOTIF
Who: Norwegian/Brazilian electro act with two albums and
subsequent remix albums in two years. Check them on Spotify.
The trio has a cover out now.
They put their hands and their synths on the 3-chords 1969 punk classic
I WANNA BE YOUR DOG by Detroit‘s eternal raw power legends The Stooges.
Not an obvious choice. But Melt Motif‘s take is stupendous. They drenched the motherrocker of a track in their own industrial-techno bath, and the intoxicating
outcome is a zippy electro runner that works as a magnet on your senses and your
body actions.
Near-whispering, sensual vocals roll all over the groove fueled with bass riffs and
a glowing guitar fragment reminiscent of early New Order tunes. You get the feel
you’re a passenger on a buzzing speed-train feeding your lust for life appetite.
