Notorious Texas native, Chicago-based noise rock veterans THE JESUS LIZARD
(1987–1999, 2008–2010, 2017–present, and still with their classic line-up) returned
to the spotlight last September with a new album, their first in 26 years and 7th overall, named Rack. They are and look older, but the original, sonic dropout spirit is still intact.
And their stamina too. Following the LP they dropped two
new songs, Cost Of Living and Westside (both recorded
during the Rack sessions).
And the lizards are not done yet.
Here’s another fresh one, titled I’M TIRED OF BEING YOUR MOTHER.
It’ll appear on a three-track EP, named Flux and out on Record Store Day,
next month. More info here.
David Yow (vocalist/songwriter) about the song: “When a friend of mine was about eight years old, living outside of New Orleans, his mother once said to him, in a slow, dull drawl, ‘I’m tired uh bein’ yo mutha.’ That really struck me. The lyrics are actual quotes of awful things mothers have said to their children. Heartbreaking!”
For all badass MOTHERrockers.
