Inbetweenies! THE MONKEES This Day In 1967

What Turn Up The Volume is playing/watching between coffees

19 January 2022

The iconic boys band THE MONKEES was all over the news last December
as their most (solo career-wise) successful member Michael Nesmith past
away. He was 78.

This day in 1967 the TV pop darlings scored their only No 1 hit in the UK
with their classic cracker I’M A BELIEVER, sung by drummer Mick Dolenz
(now the last surviving Monkee). written by Neil Diamond.

Then I saw her face
Now I’m a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind
I’m in love
I’m a believer
I couldn’t leave her if I tried

Inbetweenies! BLACK SABBATH Going Paranoid 51 Years Ago Today

What Turn Up The Volume is playing/ watching in between two coffees

Today 51 years ago, on 7 January 1970, metal freaks BLACK SABBATH released their
2nd LP PARANOID. The longplayer was originally titled War Pigs (the opening track) but the record company made it change in the end, out of fear for criticism from supporters of the ongoing Vietnam War. Anyway, the album topped the UK Charts and peaked at #12 in the USA.

Let’s get paranoid again…

Inbetweenies! Sit Down And Go Euphoric With JAMES

What Turn Up The Volume is watching/playing between two coffees

For some incomprehensible reasons Manchester pop/rock band JAMES led by exhilarating voice TIM BOOTH was/is only a really big band in their home country. With the countless pop pearls, these guys came up with in their career since 1982 they should have been a global sensation.

Here’s just only one reason why…

Inbetweenies! BECK Still Is A Cool ‘PERDEDOR’

What Turn Up The Volume is watching/playing between two coffees

BECK made losers sound cool with
his best-known jam back in 1994.

In the time of chimpanzees I was a monkey
Butane in my veins and I’m out to cut the junkie
With the plastic eyeballs, spray-paint the vegetables
Dog food stalls with the beefcake pantyhose

Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?

Inbetweenies! INTERPOL’s Masterstroke Single ‘NYC’ Turns 20 Next Year

What Turn Up The Volume just watched/played between two coffees

10 December 2021

Band: INTERPOL
Who: Celebrated post-punk
rockers from New York City
Active: 1997-present / 6 LPs

Song: NYC
A slow-burning and glowing torch, with
a spine-chilling guitar line starting around
the 2-minute mark and gleaming until the
very last second. Pure magic!

From their 2002 debut album
Turn On The Bright Lights.

Great lyrics too…

I had seven faces
Thought I knew which one to wear
I’m sick of spending these lonely nights
Training myself not to care

The subway is a porno
The pavements they are a mess
I know you’ve supported me for a long time
Somehow I’m not impressed

But New York cares (got to be some more change in my life)
New York cares (got to be some more change in my life)
