Glam celebs DURAN DURAN (1978-present) reached the top of
the USA Singles Charts with the theme song of James Bond movie A VIEW TO A KILL on 13 July 1985, today 40 years ago.
Here’s the imperishable IGGY POP performing live for BBC Radio 6 Music a couple of days ago. One of the tracks he did was JAMES BOND, a highlight from his new albumFREE. The 72-year-old legend still knows all the tricks in the book! He still got it! Still a top performer!
Although he celebrated his 72nd birthday this year, undecaying rock legend and
Godfather of Punk IGGY POP doesn’t think about retiring at all. On the contrary
he will release a new album called FREE on 6th September.
Mister Pop said in a press statement: “This is an album in which other artists speak for me, but I lend my voice. I know that’s an illusion, and that freedom is only something you feel, but I have lived my life thus far in the belief that that feeling is all that is worth pursuing; all that you need – not happiness or love necessarily, but the feeling of being free. So this album just kind of happened to me, and I let it happen.”
Two weeks ago he shared the atmospheric intro of the longplayer. But now here’s the real lead-single, titled ‘JAMES BOND‘. A bass-loaded groove that gets under your skin, slowly but surely, while all the instruments kick in, one by one. Pop‘s voice still has the attractive force of a solid gold magnet and the retro jazzy trumpet sequence near the end works perfectly well. Welcome back…
