Janis Joplin
Happy 80 JANIS JOPLIN
19 January 2023
Iconic voice/performer JANIS JOPLIN with her unique hoarse voice would
have celebrated her 80th birthday today (born 19 January 1943). Happy 80!.
If you never heard of her you must be living on Mars, I guess.
Unfortunately, she partied too hard and messed up her young life with heroin.
On 4 October 1970, after an accidental overdose she passed away, only 27, joining
the sad 27-club (Jim Morrison, Brian Jones, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, blues pioneer
Robert Johnson/. Joplin was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame in 1995.
“All of a sudden, someone threw me in front of this rock and roll band.
I decided then and there that was it. I never wanted to do anything else.“
Let’s remember her with these two classics ‘Piece Of My Heart‘
and ‘Me And Bobby McGee‘ are two of her most famous songs.

JANIS JOPLIN Album ‘PEARL’ Came Out 50 Years Ago Today
Back in time…
11 January 2021
Artist: JANIS JOPLIN
January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970
Album: PEARL 2nd and final LP
Released: 11 January 1971 – 50 years ago today,
3 months after she passed away
AllMusic/Steve Huey wrote: Janis Joplin’s second masterpiece
(after Cheap Thrills), Pearl was designed as a showcase for her
powerhouse vocals, stripping down the arrangements that had
often previously cluttered her music or threatened to drown her
out. Pearl’s power leaves the listener to wonder what else Joplin
could have accomplished, but few artists could ask for a better
final statement.” Score: 5/5.
Janis Joplin: “I’m one of those regular weird people.”

JANIS JOPLIN Passed Away 50 Years Ago – Only 27
The wonderful JANIS JOPLIN with her unique hoarse voice passed away 50 years ago today, on 4 October 1970, after an accidental heroin overdose. She was only 27 just like Brian Jones, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse and blues pioneer Robert Johnson. Pretty creepy if you ask me. She was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame in 1995.
‘Piece Of My Heart‘ and ‘Me And Bobby McGee‘ are two of her most famous songs…
