Spine-Chilling NICK CAVE And THE BAD SEEDS Album ‘HENRY’S DREAM’ Released 30 Years Ago Today

Back in time

27 April 2022

NICK CAVE and his BAD SEEDS released HENRY’S DREAM,
one of my favorite Seeds albums, 30 years ago today, on
29 April 1992. Their 7th longplayer.

Rolling Stone
said: “Provocative – albeit harrowing – music.” Score: 4/5.

Turn Up The Volume: Every time Cave returns from a visit to the dark side of his
mind he comes up with a spine-chilling work. From macabreness (Jack The Ripper) to
emotional disturbance (Papa Won’t Leave You Henry), from melancholia (Straight To You)
to madness (Christina, The Astonishing). Nine raw diamonds. Cave is the Agatha Christie
of haunting rock. Always thriller-ing.

Singles/clips: Straight To You / I Had A Dream, Joe

– STRAIGHT TO YOU –
(Timeless classic)

– I HAD A DREAM, JOE –

You were standing in the open
Your hands to the sky
Your mouth in foam
And needles
Fell in the leaves
Finger at me
Finger at me, pointing at me

Lady Sings The Blues – MESKEREM MEES Shines On Moony Debut Single ‘JOE’

Reveries for the laziest day of the week

24 May 2020

MESKEREM MEES is a hugely talented singer/songwriter based in Belgium, only 20, with
a voice reminding me of the moodiest moments of Angel Olsen and the tender ballads of Nina Simone, while physically she could be the sister of Tracy Chapman.

Armed with nothing but her warm and impressive vox and an acoustic guitar Mees just released her emotive debut single’ Joe‘. A heart-touching, but also sad musing about a lost love. Affective, soul-stirring, intimate, and melancholic. A sweet romantic folk pearl. Lady sings the blues, indeed. I’m sure we will hear more entrancing songs from this passionate songstress pretty soon.

But every story has its end
You’ve loved me as a friend
And as a lover when you took my hand
But me I have loved you all my life
Day and night, from nine to five

Enjoy the silence and the lovely black & white clip by Merel Matthys
