NYC’s flamboyant pop-rock trio YEAH YEAH YEAHS fronted by the utterly
charismatic Karen O released their wondrous, critically praised 6th album,
the first in 9 years, named Cool It Down last September.
They’re touring in Europe at the moment.
Tomorrow they perform at the legendary Paradiso club in Amsterdam,
originally a nineteenth-century church. Every big name in rock played
there (before getting massively famous) over the past 55 years: Pink Floyd,
The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Cure, Blondie, Oasis,
Arctic Monkeys, PJ Harvey and countless more. And it’s still a place where
every up-and-coming artist wants to play at least once.
It’s one of my favorite concert venues ever.
And as a big YYYs fan I’ll be there, in the front,
at a gig that sold out the day the tickets went
on sale last March.

WILLIE NELSON and KAREN O joined the
daily list of artists covering other artists.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ frontwoman was overwhelmed
when she heard that country legend Willie Nelson agreed
to do a duet.
“At this point my mind was melting but I had to focus and pull a song
out of the ether that was worthy of a living legend and spoke to the people
in troubled times, not an easy assignment. Like a bolt out of the blue ‘Under
Pressure’ came to mind. I’ve heard this song countless times without processing
the gravity of what Bowie and Freddie were singing about, maybe because their
performances are so exhilarating you get swept away in the high of that duet.”

Brand new sonic impulses…
Last year musician/producer/songwriter Brian Joseph Burton aka DANGER MOUSE
and KAREN O, the charismatic frontwoman of New York’s fab indie rockers YEAH
YEAH YEAHS announced a collaboration album and released first track, the moony
and cinematic Lux Prima. Now the pair announced that LUX PRIMA is also the full
length record’s title and shared another cut. A totally different piece called WOMAN.
