New GORILLAZ Album Next Year – Energizing Taster ‘NEW GOLD’ (Feat. Tame Impala & Bootie Brown) Now

New striking strokes

1 September 2022

GORILLAZ share their new album, titled CRACKER ISLAND
with the world next year, on 24 February 2023.

Cracker Island is the eighth studio album from Gorillaz, an energetic, upbeat,
genre-expansive collection of 10 tracks featuring yet another stellar line-up
of artist collaborators: Thundercat, Tame Impala, Bad Bunny, Stevie Nicks, Adeleye
Omotayo, Bootie Brown
and Beck. Recorded in London and LA earlier this year, it
is produced by Gorillaz, Remi Kabaka jr. and eight-time Grammy Award-winning producer/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter extraordinaire Greg Kurstin.

Following the title track, we get a second taster. NEW GOLD
features Tampa Impala‘s Kevin Parker and trip-hopper Bootie
Browne
. It’s a terrific pop/rap energizer injected with shots
of adrenalin.

Get up and sway yourself dizzy.

Waking Up With… DIANA ROSS And TAME IMPALA Bringing THE MOTOWN SOUND Back

Works faster than caffeine

Soul diva DIANA ROSS and sugary synth-pop
act TAME IMPALA (read Kevin Parker), together? Yes.
What, when, how?

The song is titled TURN UP THE SUNSHINE and is
written by producing superstar Jack Antonoff, Sam Dew,
Patrik Berger
and Kevin Parker.

It will feature on the soundtrack of upcoming, animated comedy movie
Minions: The Rise Of Gru , part of the Despicable Me franchise, out July 1.

On first hearing, it sounds like this is a lost Diana Ross/Motown song from
the 70s with The Temptations taking care of the harmonies/backing vocals.
On second hearing, it still sounds the same way as the first time. It will stay
that way, undoubtedly.

Time to get up and
shake your booty…

In Time For The Xmas Sales – TAME IMPALA Drops Animated Video Clip For ‘BREATHE DEEPER’

16 December 2020

To give this year’s TAME IMPALA album THE SLOW RUSH, released on Valentine’s Day, a Xmas-sales-push the record label drops an animated clip for BREATHE DEEPER, one of the LP’s many cheesy tracks (yes, I’m not a big Impala fan, sounds too much like the Bee Gees after they inhaled too much helium). But hey, it’s a cool video, so here we go…

THE STREETS And TAME IMPALA Team Up For ‘CALL MY PHONE THINKING I’M DOING NOTHING’

New sonic impulses

MIKE SKINNER‘s successful hip hop project THE STREETS returns nine years after their longplayer Computers And Blues came out. The new track CALL MY PHONE THINKING I’M DOING NOTHING is the first single from The Streets’ new mixtape ‘NONE OF US ARE GETTING OUT OF THIS LIFE ALIVE’, out in July, featuring several guests.

For this song, Skinner teamed up with Tame Impala‘s mastermind Kevin Parker. In the clip you see Skinner trying to phone all his friends from a winter sports location while Kevin Parker sits in a sunlit apartment. It looks like a sonic social distancing message.
