KIDSMOKE Drops Another Cut From Upcoming Debut LP – Here’s ‘LAYLA’S LOVE’

New sonic impulses…

9 June 2020

Welsh guitar daydreamers KIDSMOKE launch their debut album A VISION IN THE DARK next week. Ahead of it came first, moody, single The Bluest You last month, which was Pick Of The Day on Turn Up The Volume!

And here’s another entrancing piece called LAYLA’S LOVE. I don’t know if it’s the same
Layla that legend Eric Clapton was singing about many years ago, but this is a wonderful, breezy love song with alluring harmonies bringing Teenage Fanclub to mind, but also the airy-fairy Charlatans moments on their recent work and even nightingale echoes from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young while jangly The Byrds guitars create a sunlit atmosphere. I know, famous references, but have a couple of spins and found out why…

Welsh Guitar Pop Outfit KIDSMOKE Dropped Brand New Sorrowful Single ‘THE BLUEST YOU’…

Daily electricity to load your sonic batteries…

29 April 2020

Guitar pop quartet KIDSMOKE out of Wrexham, North Wales has been around for some time, designing colourful sonic rainbows. The band just dropped their brand new single ‘THE BLUEST YOU‘. A sombre observation of mental health and how it can affect loved ones.

The band clarified the song’s content as follows: “This song is a live favourite of ours. It is a fly on the wall look into a household where one person’s depression is affecting everyone else who lives there. The song doesn’t address the feelings of the person suffering with depression,
it is a sort of commentary from the viewpoint of the rest of the family.”

‘The Bluest You’ is a moody, melodic reflection with a melancholic Kurt Vile touch and an electrifying War On Drugs vibe. This is richly orchestrated pop romanticism for heart and soul. Sorrowful pensiveness about an issue that still isn’t fully accepted as a life-changing condition by our suspicious society. The heavy-hearted vocals, the polyphonic harmonies, the beautifully weeping guitars, and the overall compassionate sensitivity of this gripping jingle resonate as a solacing symphony. A magnificent and caring score!
