KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD – Out Of The Blue The Hardest Working Band In The World Released Their 28 LP In 14 Years

17 August 2026

I guess for the Australian psych-prog-rockers
KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD a day
counts 48 hours.

I must be something weird like that.

They just released their 28th LP in 14 years.
It’s named ALIEN METAL. Order info here.

And it’s quite a special record for the riff junks from down other, as
they have thrown their guitars through the window and surprise with
a full electronic one.

Stu Mackenzie (vocalist/guitarist): “We’ve never scrapped so much material
as we have for this album. Entire albums, entire universes that were formulated,
created, recorded, deleted and started again. The project was finally unlocked
during a late night jam session that went on for more than an hour with every
track evolving from the same source performance.”

They actually announced the album a couple of weeks ago, along
with its single Level 5, but no release date was communicated, and
last Friday it came falling out of the blue.

Billboard US: “Alien Metal is arguably the biggest swing in a catalog full of them,
as the sextet best known for wild, garage-meets-psych-rock ditched its guitars in favor
of a hulking Eurorack, a type of modular synthesizer developed in the ’90s that all of
its members could play simultaneously.”

TUTV: Back to the British 90s techno raves. Alien Metal resonates as if KG&TLW
locked themselves up for a couple of weeks playing Underworld, The Prodigy and
Leftfield
records on repeat.

Expect an incessant tsunami of hyperkinetic beats, mind-blowing electro
Krautrock madness, and deformed vocal flashes. Full blast forward without
breaks. Not one moment to have a much-needed breather. E-cstatic.

KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD Go Electro-Frenetic On Their Upcoming 28th (!!) Album – Info & First Single Here

9 July 2026

Australian psych-prog-rockers KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD
must be the hardest-working band on the planet.

They just informed all media that they’ll launch their 28th LP in just
14 years, an average of 2 per year, wake up Radiohead. It’s named
Alien Metal and drops late summer.

And it will be a special record for the riff junks, as
they have thrown their guitars through the window
and surprise with a full electronic one.

First single LEVEL 5 thrives on 90s-inspired jungle rhythms and frenetic
techno beats, while deformed vocals slide over it. A complete turnover
compared to their previous work.

C’mon, back to the rave era, nightclub fanatics.

KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD – Their 27 Albums Are Now Available For ‘NAME YOUR PRICE’ On BANDCAMP

11 September 2025

Unbelievably productive Australian psych-prog-rockers KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD are one of many popular bands who left Spotify following the news that CEO Daniel Ek had invested over half a billion dollars in AI military drone technology.

The band said afterward that they’ve had a bone to pick with the streaming platform
for a long time, and that removing their music from it was just a natural step.

And now they announced that all of their 27 albums are available for “name your price”
on Bandcamp. It will probably more profitable than Spotify ever was for them.

KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD: “Fuck Spotify”

27 July 2025

Yesterday, Aussie collective KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD
released a new collection of demos with this message “out everywhere,
except on Spotify (fuck Spotify)
. The band have removed 99% of their
music from Spotify.

Since it was reported that German company Helsing, which develops AI software
designed to enhance military weapons and equipment has the same CEO as Spotify
with Daniel Ek and raised nearly $700 million with an investment led by the venture
capital firm also founded by Ek and Shakil Khan, musicians like Deerhunter and
Xiu Xiu
have left Spotify.

KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD Released Their 27th Album In 15 Years With ‘PHANTOM ISLAND’

18 June 2025

The inexhaustible prog-psych-rock squad from down under KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD have launched their 27th longplayer in 15 years with PHANTOM ISLAND.

They recorded it with an orchestra, simultaneously
with the making of their 2024 album Flight b741.

British historical keyboardist, conductor, and arranger
Chad Kelley helped them flesh out tracks that needed
more gestation.

Stu Mackenzie: “He brings this wealth of musical awareness to his chameleon-like arrangements. We come from such different worlds. He plays Mozart and Bach and uses
the same harpsichords they did, and tunes them the exact same way. But he’s obsessed with microtonal music, too, and all this nerdy stuff like me. A lot of love and time and energy and patience and growth went into this one. ”

MOJO (British music monthly): “A dense, cosmic country, limber
astro-funk and psychedelic pop record, it might be KGATLW’s finest
to date.”

TUTV: Despite the vertiginous speed with which the Aussies release albums, they still find ways to surprise instead of copy/paste stuff all the time. This new one is recorded with a full orchestra, including a huge brass team (so it sounds, and it shows on the LP’s cover). Yet, tunewise, they’re still stuck in the psychedelic Grateful Dead 60s with dreamy Jefferson Airplane wanderings and Beach Boys harmonies. Is that a problem? Definitely not. KG & TLW will be fun forever for retro romantics.

KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD Will Awake You With Live Version Of Their Disco Stomper ‘INTRASPORT’

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

5 November 2024

The hardest working band on the planet, psych-prog-rock Aussies KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD, launched their 26th album in 14 years, named Flight b741 last August. One of their best to TUTV’s ears. More catchy tunes, less endless guitar riffage.

Guess what? Last week, they teased the next one on their socials.
And also announced American tour dates for next year.

And what are they doing right now? Keep on being busy, of course, with
playing concerts here and there. No rest for the KG & TLW wicked.

Last weekend they were in Paso Robles, California where they played
top-tier disco-infused tune INTRASPORT from their 2020 LP K.G. for
the first time.

Wake up, people
and move to
the groove.
