After more than 30 years GARBAGE still operate with e their original line-up. Vocalist/lyricist Shirley Manson, bassist Duke Erikson, guitarist Steve Marker and
drummer Butch Vig. Quite rare.
And with the four of them they released their 8th album,
titled LET ALL THAT WE IMAGINE BE THE LIGHT today.
Press info: All the hallmarks and signatures for which they are known are present
here. Big angular guitars, precise, propulsive beats and cinematic soundscapes all
lurk beneath Shirley Manson’s expressive voice, her lyrics bristling with attitude. It is
the sound of a group at the peak of their creative powers – characteristically harnessing sonic juxtapositions and moods to create an album that thrums equally with both light
and shade.
NME says in a 5-star review: “If there is one thing Garbage have taken from the time
since their last LP, it’s that while the world can often feel like a dark place, there is a sense of empowerment that can be reached by letting in the light. Over three decades after they formed, we are now seeing the band like never before. Not only are they showcasing some of their most intriguing and impactful material, but they’re also paving the way into a hopeful new chapter.”
TUTV: My ears do not agree with the overall positive critics for this new Garbage record.
It lacks too few monumental tunes, too few chill bumps moments, too few cast iron earworms. Sonically, it’s an average affair for a band this magnitude.

Manson:: “I am outraged by the way the world treats blacks and browns and gays and
trans peoples and animals and women. Living in America over the last couple of years, the absolute war on women in America is astounding. All the rights that we felt had been secured are starting to get pushed back into the Middle Ages. It is something that I can no longer tolerate silently. It’s not just infuriating, it’s alarming. It’s frightening.”
It’s Sunday, stay in bed, press
play and wake up slowly.
TOUR US
Charismatic Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson hit back on Instagram
at English gutter newspaper Daily Mail with a screenshot of a an article in
which the DM claimed the rock band looked “unrecognisable” in their new
promo photos for their upcoming album.
So the looks/photos/promos of a rock band are important news, today?
In a world that struggles to survive amidst wars and delusional politicians?
You still look the same DM, full of childish shit.

Manson: “Going into making this record, I was determined to find a more hopeful, uplifting world to immerse myself in. The title of the album, Let All That We Imagine Be the Light, is the perfect descriptor for this new record as a whole. When things feel dark it feels imperative to seek out forces that are light, positive and beautiful in the world. It almost feels like a matter
of life and death. A strategy for survival.”
