LEVELLERS Dare You To Dance Around The Xmas Tree Without Falling Over Your Feet With Their New Single
Works faster and harder than caffeine
8 December 2022
Veteran folk rockers LEVELLERS from Brighton, UK have no intention
whatsoever to call it a day. They recorded/released 12 studio LPs since
hitting the scene back in 1988. And they’re not done yet.
Next year, in March the band will make all their fans happy with a new
longplayer named TOGETHER ALL THE WAY. It follows their triumphant
2018 LP We The Collective. Pre-order info here.
The Levellers in a press statement: “The last ‘Collective’ album was recorded at Abbey Road with the legendary John Leckie 5 years ago. We always planned to do more but how do you top that? Eventually, we came to the conclusion to not try to top it but to go another way. We reconvened the collective – this time with Sean Lakeman producing and Al Scott mixing – at the Metway. We were joined again by Hannah and Ollie from the Moulettes on cello, vocals and percussion plus the mighty Dan Donnelly on his first official Levellers recording. Of the album and recording, Jeremy says “It’s a stripped back, raw iteration of the collective with deep folk leanings. As energetic as the first one but definitely different.”
Along with the news comes the first single off the upcoming full-length.
DOWN BY THE RIVER ‘O’ is a whirlwind Celtic folk stunner. Rushing and
pushing all the way. Sickly head-over-heels catchy without breaks. A perfect
limbs-activating earworm to get all together around the Xmas tree and try
to dance yourselves dizzy without falling over your feet. Big fun, indeed.
Here we go.
