British Synth Pop Champs OMD Cause Euphoria In Belgium

British synth pop champs OMD, abbreviation for Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark,
have been entertaining people since 1978. In 2006 they took a deserved 10-year hiatus. Ten years later, in 2006, they returned and never looked back.

They recorded/released 14 LPs thus far, with
Bauhaus Staircase from 2023 as their most
recent one.

They scored big hits with great gems such as Electricity, Messages,
Souvenir, Maid Of New Orleans and their biggest one, Enola Gay.

Last Saturday they played at Rock Zottegem Festival in Belgium.
It was a non-stop, effervescent best-of set causing euphoria all around.

CABARET VOLTAIRE – Electro Pioneers Play Final US & UK Dates This Fall

Early days

British electro-industrial pioneers CABARET VOLTAIRE
made instant furore when they started their journey,
in pre-punk days, back in 1973.

CV was a trio featuring Richard H. Kirk, Stephen Mallinder, and Chris Watson.

In 1984, they all went their own way. Then, in 2009, Richard H. Kirk revitalized the
band on his own until his passing in 2021, aged 65. This looked like the ultimate
end for Cabaret Voltaire.

But last year, Watson and Mallinder returned together for a final UK tour to celebrate
the band’s 50th birthday. It was a huge sold-out success, so they decided to extend the
final tour this year. This fall will see them perform for the last time in the US and UK.

To mark their final chapter, they shared a terrific, new 16-track live album,
last April. It’s titled BUT WHAT TIME IS IT REALLY? and it features a sort of
‘best of‘ tracklist.

Chris Watson: “This record captures the powerful essence of contemporary live
performance and establishes a visceral connection to the history of the band.”

Stephen Mallinder: “It was an opportunity to capture the shows as a unique moment
in time but also give people the opportunity to have a memento. Something that presented sounds and music, with respect to Richard’s memory, that also transcended time.”

an all female big name line-up including Bikini Kill, Garbage, Mitski, Stevie Nicks, Karen O and many more.

The event, dubbed Daisy Chain Fields will be staged in Irvine, Chicago on August 29th.

GARBAGE Fueled ANTWERP With Genuine Love And Badass Rockers

After more than 30 years, GARBAGE still operate with their original line-up.
Vocalist/lyricist Shirley Manson, guitar/bass Duke Erikson, guitarist Steve Marker
and drummer Butch Vig. Quite rare, after such a long time.

And with the four of them, they released their 8th, widely praised album,
titled Let All That We Imagine Be The Light (stream below) last year.

Soon after, they hit the road for a long tour. At one point, Manson announced
that it would be their final one as the overall costs of playing live around the
world were getting too high.

As part of the final live chapter, Garbage landed in Antwerp, Belgium, last Saturday.

Shirley Manson was welcomed like a goddess. And it obviously touched her genuinely. Her utterly cool presence and, most of all, her phenomenal voice affected the whole crowd.

The sound was overpowering from start to finish, the band rocked badass, and as said Manson filled the special open-air setting, in a park in the middle of Antwerp, with her mesmerizing vocal exploit.

After two blazing tracks from last year’s album, three huge hits from the past Empty,
I Think I’m Paranoid and Stupid Girl kicked in and dynamized the elated audience that
sang along word-for-word.

Euphoria everywhere. Several hits would follow, and in between, top drawer tunes
taken from their 30-plus-year career kept the fire burning, while Manson tackled the orange monkey in the White House and expressed her support for the discriminated
LGBTQIA+ community between songs.

Manson felt super, performed super, and reacted totally happy to the audience’s non-stop cheers, although it didn’t rain. This was by far the best galvanic concert I witnessed this year (so far).

At the end, just before the encores, Manson did a wonderful thing. She told the band
to wait to play while she jumped off the stage and let a young fan (with whom she had interacted a few times during the set) take a selfie with her. While some stars moan
about people’s phones at concerts, Shirley did this. Class!

I’m still thriving on the amount of love and electricity
that marked this show. Don’t stop yet, guys!

and other bands before, played bass and did some backing vocals
