SLOAN – Canadian Veteran Rockers Return With New Guitar-Hooky Groover ‘LIVE FOREVER’

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

17 June 2025

Canadian rock legends SLOAN got together in 1991 and earned
them lots of accolades, fans and record sales, over the years.

And they’re not done yet. They have their 14th LP, named BASED
ON THE BEST SELLER
ready to share with the world on 26 September.
More info here.

Jay Ferguson (guitarist): “It’s not a challenge to make a 14th album. But sometimes it’s
a challenge to think of a new overarching theme for a 14th album , and The Kinks’ 14th album was Soap Opera, essentially a TV play and complete story arc set to music, so clearly Ray Davies didn’t have that problem.

Our band has the capability to perform different styles within the rock/pop sphere, but it’s often hard to harness the group to adhere to one particular style or theme. That’s okay though. With four songwriters, we tend to make music that perhaps doesn’t always naturally hang together under one opened umbrella but that’s our style, and that style is continued on Based on the Best Seller.”

Along with the news comes the first single, a harmonic, easygoing
and guitar-hooky groover, titled LIVE FOREVER, a catchy booster.

Chris Murphy (bassist): “If given the chance to live forever, would we even want to? Careful what you wish for. Would you want to feel 80 for hundreds of years? I guess that’s the kind of hard-hitting question this song tackles. It also predicts that we will all have ‘90s nostalgia, once we’re 100 years old.”

Wake up, people
and let’s celebrate
life, we’re not cats,
we only have one.

OASIS – Manchester Legends Released Their Supernova Anthem ‘LIVE FOREVER’ 30 Years Ago

Top singles from the past

9 August 2024

30 years ago, on 8 August 1994, Manchester legends
OASIS released their supernova classic LIVE FOREVER.

A 24 karat gold anthem written, of course, by Noel Gallagher,
inspired by Shine A Light, a 1972 song by The Stones.

Live Forever was the third single from their supreme debut album
Definitely Maybe and their first one that entered the Top-10 of
the UK Singles Chart.

Noel today, about the joyful anthem.

Maybe I just wanna fly
Wanna live, I don’t wanna die
Maybe I just wanna breathe
Maybe I just don’t believe
Maybe you’re the same as me
We see things they’ll never see
You and I are gonna live forever

LIAM GALLAGHER Played OASIS’ Awesome Debut Album ‘DEFINITELY, MAYBE’ In Full In London – It Was A Massive Celebration Of Britrock History

10 June 2024

At the end of last year, our kid LIAM GALLAGHER announced a handful of UK arena
shows (4 nights in London) for this month, to celebrate the 30th birthday of Oasis‘ masterpiece debut LP Definitely, Maybe.

All shows sold out in no time. TUTV was lucky to get
one for last Thursday, June 6, in London at the O2.

This was not a regular concert, it was a celebration of one of the greatest debut albums ever, by one of the greatest bands in rock ever, performed (including B-sides of the singles, a Noel tribute (!!), and Beatles cover ‘I’m The Walrus’) by one of the greatest frontmen ever.

3 generations were present for a sort of Best Of The Oasis Proms. I saw 12-16 year old teenagers with their mum or dad or both, 25-40 years old fans who weren’t born or were too young back then to hear/see the Gallaghers & Co taking the UK by storm in the early 90s, and 50-70 years old people who were there when the band started their turbulent journey that ended in 2009.

All together, 20.000 fanatic fans welcomed Liam as a hero. Every individual present, (including me, of course), old and young, sober and drunk, sang every single word of
every single song along. It was absolutely fantastic to be there amidst that euphoric
mass. I never experienced so much love, joy and togetherness at a concert.

People hugged each other (I also got some), put their arms around the shoulders of friends/family and smiled from left to right and back. I’m still amazed, even after years
of going to concerts, that music still has that enormous power to unite people.

We all felt SUPERSONIC!

The set included some B-sides, a Noel Gallagher & his High Flying Birds cover
and The Beatles ‘I’m The Walrus, which Oasis played a lot in the early days.

OASIS – Supreme Debut Album ‘DEFINITELY, MAYBE’ Gets Deluxe Anniversary Treatment For Its 30th Birthday

26 May 2024

On 29 August, Manchester‘s heroes OASIS‘ supreme
life-celebrating debut LP DEFINITELY, MAYBE celebrates
its 30th birthday.

One of the best debuts ever. It came at a perfect moment as The Stone Roses blew their minds on drugs for five years after their astonishing 1989 debut LP and only delivered a half great second longplayer 3 months after the Gallagher brothers took the vacant place with D,M stuffed with spot-on anthems which fans are still singing word by word 30 years later.

On such occasions as this, a deluxe anniversary reissue is unavoidable.

So be it here too.

A limited edition of 4LP and 2CD plus exclusive coloured vinyl will see the day of
light on 30 August. It’ll feature unheard versions from the original discarded album session at Monnow Valley and outtakes from the definitive recording at Sawmills Studios, newly mixed for the first time by Noel. It will also be available on limited-edition blue cassette and digital formats. More info and pre-order details here.

LIAM GALLAGHER Dedicates Classic ‘LIVE FOREVER’ To TAYLOR HAWKINS At Royal Albert Hall Concert

Liam Gallagher dedicated Oasis classic Live Forever to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins last Saturday at his concert in the historic Royal Albert Hall in London, a day
after Hawkins passed away (probably due to a heart attack) in his hotel room, totally unexpected, the day before, on Friday.

Info: Gallagher wrote his newest single Everything’s Electric
with FF’s frontman and former drummer of Nirvana Dave Grohl

“I dedicate this last song to the one and only Taylor fucking Hawkins. This is for you, brother.”
