LIVE KICK OF THE DAY – Sweet LOU In Paris 1974

One live track a day keeps the doctor away

17 September 2022

Artist: LOU REED
(March 2, 1942 – October 27, 2013)
Song: SWEET JANE

Reed wrote this classic for the 4th Velvet Underground LP LOADED (1970)

4 years later a smoking live version appeared on his legendary live LP
Rock ‘n’ Roll Animal (best live album ever to my ears) recorded at a
concert in New York the year before.

This live version comes from a 1974 show in Paris (on his Rock ‘n’ Roll album Tour).
A rare rendition with a totally different (long) intro than on the live LP. A pretty weird
jazzy/bluesy one until Reed decides to come up front and start Sweet Jane.

Sweet Lou

From the same tour this, at times, hilarious
interview with Australian journalists.

TY SEGALL Nails It With Big Hot Chocolate Drone Live On American TV…

Centipede musician TY SEGALL just released his umpteenth new album FREEDOM’S GOBLIN. A blast of a record with more massive hooks than ever. Yesterday the hardest working man in showbiz performed live on the Jimmy Kimmel TV show. Here is his towering cover of Hot Chocolate’s song EVERY1’S A WINNER (also on the LP). A mighty drone energized heavily by a king-sized Segall guitar solo…

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM – Magnetizing ‘CALL THE POLICE’ Performance On British TV…

Towering live performances…

Band: LCD SOUNDSYSTEM – James Murphy‘s band
Track: CALL THE POLICE
Where: BBC’s ‘Later With… Jools Holland‘ live show
When: 26 September 2017
Score: Murphy‘s comeback after 5 years with his ‘American Dream‘ album isn’t a cash-in affair, absolutely not. His 4th longplayer is his best ever! And ‘Call The Police‘ is one of my favourite 5-stars tracks. A magnetizing corker that will twist your head 360. Bingo…

BLACK REBEL MOTORYCLE CLUB – Classic ‘WHATEVER HAPPENED TO MY ROCK N ROLL’ Live In Austin, Texas…

Memorable live performances…

23 November 2017

Last Tuesday one of the most genuine, most honest and most flamboyant rock gangs on
this troubled planet played Belgium again. Yes, BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB came
to play new album ‘Wrong Creatures’ and more in Antwerp. I had my ticket from the day
the concert was announced. But due to an endless, massive traffic jam – a truck lost his dangerous freight on the highway – I didn’t even arrived in Antwerp. From the moment
I realized I couldn’t be in time at all for the show I returned utterly disappointed back home. As I’ve seen B.R.M.C several times before I knew what I missed. Bloody bad luck,
for me and many other fans who experienced the same shit. To comfort us all here’s
their first ever big knockout from 2001 performed live in Austin, Texas in 2013…

SAVAGES – Flabbergast ‘FUCKERS’ Performance At Glastonbury 2016…

Last year was SAVAGES year. The forthright all-female 4-piece powerhouse led by charismatic frontwoman Jehnny Beth scored big time with their second LP ‘Adore Life‘.
But today I wanna hear/see/experience that amazingly powerful live rendition of mind-boggling steamroller FUCKERS (a live version was released on a 12″ along with a cover
of Suicide’s ‘Dream Baby Dream’ back in 2014 – both tracks were recorded live during the band’s November 6th, 2013 performance at London’s Forum.) at Glastonbury Festival 2016. Menacing, staggering and breathtaking. Here’s the awesome 10-minute volcano.

THE BLACK ANGELS – Intimate Performance Of ‘I’D KILL FOR HER’ – Top Track From Their Best Longplayer So Far…

Texan psychedelic collective THE BLACK ANGELS released this year – to my ears – their best album so far. DEATH SONG (named after a song on The Velvet Underground’s 1967 debut LP). is a gloomy work dealing with today’s bleak times wrapped in an ardent and invigorating soundtrack. Here’s one of the highlights performed intimately in the tiny
Paste Studios in New York City earlier this year. Pretty cool…
