Californian thrash metalheads MEGADETH are one of those musical institutions that
have been around for ages. In their case, since 1983, and they’re ready now to finish
their impressive career with their Final Eponymous LP, released today.
Dave Mustaine (co-founder, frontman and primary songwriter): “There’s so many
musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional.
Most of them don’t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that’s where I’m at in my
life right now. I have traveled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans and
the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them.”
We’ve made a lot of friends over the years and I hope to see all of you on our global farewell tour. Don’t be mad, don’t be sad, be happy for us all, come celebrate with me these next few years. We have done something together that’s truly wonderful and will probably never happen again. We started a musical style, we started a revolution, we changed the guitar world and how it’s played, and we changed the world. The bands I played in have influenced the world. I love you all for it. For a Drumeo series on YouTube, Belgian drummer Dirk Verbeuren
of thrash metal band Megadeth was tasked with listening to a song,
without drums, for only one time, before recreating the track’s drums
by himself.
The Drumeo’s team picked Mr. Brightside, the 2004 classic from Californian
pop/rock heroes The Killers. Verbeuren said he had never heard before.

American metal giants LAMB OF GOD and MEGADETH (formed in 1983 by Dave Mustaine, after he was fired by Metallica which he played with for 2 years) are about to embark on a joint tour through the States.
To celebrate the event they recorded – together – Megadeth’s 1986 riff monster dunk WAKE UP DEAD. It features all Lamb Of God members, as well as additional vocals and guitar parts by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine. It also boasts contributions from Mustaine’s bandmates Kiko Loureiro, Dirk Verbeuren and James LoMenzo.
