MOBY Shares New Ambient Album On The First Day Of The New Year

1 January 2023

Last week synth pop celebrity MOBY (born Richard Melville Hall, 57 years
ago in New York) announced the release of a new record with this message.

The opus titled AMBIENT 23 is a 2 hour and a half voyage in space. Relaxing,
dreamy, laid-back. Well, I’m actually only halfway through, but I already feel
the tranquilizing impact on my hangover.  Hope it works for you too.

MOBY And Wonderful Voice MINDY JONES Cover Hero DAVID BOWIE

2 June 2021

MOBY released new album Reprise a few days ago. It features
orchestral and acoustic arrangements of songs from the past,
with the Budapest Art Orchestra, a string quartet, along with
several guest artists.

The record also includes a notable cover of
David Bowie‘s 24 Karat classic ‘Heroes.’

Moby: “‘Heroes’ was one of the first records (well, cassettes) I ever
bought, and I still think it’s the most beautiful song ever written.”

With the wonderful and soulful voice of Mindy Jones, Moby strips
the song and the pace down, let it float like a cloud in the sky, with
a mellow piano upfront and a gripping, symphonic finale. A vocal
and musical beauty!

I know, nobody can match Bowie‘s masterstroke
performance of ‘Heroes’ but this interpretation
gives me goosebumps.

Weird Trio Sounds Magical – MOBY + MARK LANEGAN + KRIS KRISTOFFERSON

New sonic impulses…

17 April 2021

Dance-pop-and-soul star MOBY releases REPRISE. An album of orchestral reimaginings
of a selection of songs he wrote in the past inspired by a classical performance of his music that took place in 2018.

After sharing Porcelain with My Morning Jacket‘s Jim James signing, comes a magical
version of his 2013 song The Lonely Night with two splendiferous crooners on vocals, Kris Kristofferson Mark Lanegan. Goosebumps all the way.

20 Years Ago Today MOBY Released His Breakthrough Bestseller ‘PLAY’…

17 May 2019

Electro popsmith MOBY released his fifth album PLAY today 20 years ago, on 17 May 1999. He recorded it in his home studio in Manhattan, New York. It turned into a global triumph, artistically and commercially. It topped the UK albums chart for 7 weeks and reached the No 1 spot in six other countries while it peaked at a rather low #38 in the
US but sold steadily there for two years. I wasn’t a devoted Moby fan at all but this LP
was near perfect, with a series of fabulous synth pop & soul songs millions, young and
old, could relate to. Here are Turn Up The Volume‘s favorite highlights…

– HONEY –

– NATURAL BLUES –

– WHY DOES MY HEART FEEL SO BAND? –

– FIND MY BABY –
