NYC’s veterans NADA SURF showed up back in 1992. They changed their name
no less than 3 times – Helicopter, Caws and Lorca – in 3 years before they decided
to go for Nada Surf.

The buoyant foursome just launched their
10th album, baptized MOON MIRROR.

MOJO: “Nada Surf have always been close to greatness,
and Moon Mirror won’t win new fans, but it is wonderful.”

TUTV: NS keep it simple but effective again with a mix of uplifting and melancholic melodies embedded in a up/down reverberating sound of sparkling guitar lines, juiced with perky vocals. At times Scottish dreamers Teenage Fanclub come to mind, then again when pace and amps go up I hear Dinosaur Jr echoes. After all these years Nada Surf are still relevant and gratify. They glow brightly.

NADA SURF – New York’s Rock Veterans Stir With Melancholic Reflection ‘LOSING’ From Their Forthcoming Album

Daily electricity to load your batteries

15 August 2024

Veteran NYC band NADA SURF showed up back in 1992. They changed
their name no less than 3 times – Helicopter, Caws and Lorca – in 3 years
before they decided to go for Nada Surf.

So far they have 9 LPs on their résumé and they will add number 10, which
is baptized Moon Mirror and will see the day of light on September 13.

Following lead single In Front Of Me and New Propeller
we get another newbie with LOSING.

It’s a melancholic mid-tempo reflection fueled by layers of shoegazy guitars and
heavyhearted vocals that make me think of Scottish nightingales Teenage Fanclub.

“I have lost all there is/ I have lost what never was
But this is just today/ It will go away.”

NADA SURF – NYC’s Veteran Rockers Present A ‘NEW PROPELLER’

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

2 July 2024

Seasoned NYC band NADA SURF showed up back in 1992. They changed their name
no less than 3 times – Helicopter, Caws and Lorca – in 3 years before they decided to go
for Nada Surf.

So far they have 9 LPs on their résumé and they will add number 10, which
is baptized Moon Mirror and will see the day of light on September 13.

Following lead single In Front Of Me the surfs
offer another fresh one, called NEW PROPELLER.

Matthew Caws (frontman): “It’s a rumination on changes. It’s probable that during most years, most decades, we’ve felt that the present is peeling away from the past, that things are taking a new turn, sometimes a darker one. That ‘things are different now.’ These last years have been no exception. It feels obvious to say that things are changing faster than ever, but they really are. AI is a new frontier that is raising so many questions, and it’s undeniable that we’re in a different political world than we were a few years ago.”

Wake up, people
and start your
own propeller.

NADA SURF – Seasoned NYC Rockers Launch Their 9th LP This Summer And Share The Poppy First Single ‘IN FRONT OF ME NOW’

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

15 May 2024

Seasoned NYC rockers NADA SURF have finished the recordings of their 9th LP.
They called it MOON MIRROR and will make their fans happy with its summer
release on August 19. More info here.

Matthew Caws (vocalist/guitarist/co-founder about the new longplayer: “Every time we make an album, I’m asked (and ask myself) what it’s about. I never know how to answer that question. I’m still trying to figure everything out, and that’s probably as close to a theme as there is. Looking back over the years,

I know what our songs are about in theory: trying to reach acceptance (of circumstances,
of oneself, of others), connection, a constant search for possibility and the bright side, a willingness to change, forgiveness, curiosity, checking in with one’s mortality, motivations and judgements, etc. But in the moment when making one up, I have no idea what I’m doing and maybe that’s ok. I’m just trying to stay honest with myself and take my best guess at making sense of the world.”

First single: IN FRONT OF ME NOW

Caws: “We know the pandemic is over, but we made a Covid-era video to save on gas.
Made on location (i.e. where we live) in Cambridge, England, Sarasota, Florida, Ibiza, Spain,
and Austin, Texas, we bring you ‘In Front of Me Now,’ my diary of not being a great multi-tasker and wanting to be present for everything from now on if possible.”

In Front Of Me‘ sounds like Hüsker Dü going pop. Guitar-motorized, sizzlingly speedy
and infectiously melodic. The main difference with HD is Caws‘ sprightly vocality
whereas Bob Mould‘s pipes were made to rage and rant

New Album ‘NEVER NOT TOGETHER’ By NADA SURF Out Now! Listen Here…

11 February 2020

Last Friday Brooklyn based veterans NADA SURF released their ninth album titled
NEVER NOT TOGETHER‘. Definitely one of their best. What you get is a harmonious opulence of stylish guitar pop splendor, both soft and zestful, with a melancholic touch.

From wistful ballads (Just Wait / Looking For You / Crowded Star / Mathilda) to glorious rockers (So Much Love / Something I Should Do / Ride In The Unknown). This is amplified Americana the Nada Surf way. Partly sensitive, partly flamboyant, always compelling.
