Ho99o9 – Trash & Crash Punks Rage Against The Daily Rat Race Machine With New LP ‘TOMORROW WE ESCAPE’

13 September 2025

Press photo by Nick Fancher

Band: Ho99o9 (pronounced Horror)
Who: Trashing rap-punk duo – theOGM and Eaddy – from Newark, New Jersey.
They released, so far, two albums United States of Horror (2019), Skin (2022)
and last year’s mixtape Territory: Turf Talk, Vol II .

Now they have full-length number three, called TOMORROW WE ESCAPE out.

TheOGM in an interview with New Noise Maagzine: “On this record, it’s a sound that has grown as we’ve grown as people and us finding new ways of making music. Some bands are just legendary and popular for what they did at that time, and we don’t want to stay put in that box and become this one sound. We want to be able to grow and express our musical range and artistry, so it’s an evolved sound and [a process] of trying new things and not compromising.”

“There’s so much going on in the world right now and it’s very overwhelming. You have to sit back and realign yourself, focus, and push through. That’s on a personal level and family level. If you’re going [on] that political route and that’s what you’re about, you gotta go that route,
but everybody has a different route.”

Album artwork

We’re all human beings and we all go through different stages of emotions every day. A family member could have passed, you’re going to a party with friends, or you’re at a show raving. It’s [all] walks of life and we’re going through things in our personal lives that other people can relate to. We want to give the listenrers a “light at the end of the tunnel.” “We just have to be focused enough to get there.”

TUTV: You can relax for 2.22 minutes during the opening lines of I Miss Home. From
there on, the louder than war sledgehammers start to mess up your speakers. Imagine Rage Against The Machine have a motherfucking rap-scream contest with Body Count
while the crushing crossover decibels, trash and crash the roof.

That’s how Ho99o9 deals with our daily, suffocating, rat race. Chop, chop, chop.
Attack, attack, attack. Hit, hit, hit. Don’t escape yet, guys, let’s party hard first.

BIG THIEF Invite You To Their Laid-Back Campfire With Their 6th LP ‘DOUBLE INFINITY’

6 September 2025

Brooklyn‘s lauded folk pop/rock band BIG THIEF launch their 6th full length,
titled DOUBLE INFINITY. It follows the 3-year-old, 20-song strong longplayer
Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You.

Stereogum says: The songs have an essential simplicity that makes it still feel accurate
to call Big Thief a folk band. A lot of that accessibility and simplicity is thanks to Lenker’s lyrics. They’re open-hearted and lovely, more so than ever, and their realness and plainness keeps them from being saccharine.

These songs are about the inexorability of passing time, the uselessness of language, and
how love and music can fill the gaps between these things we try to hold on to but never
can.”

Press Photo by Genesis Báez

TUTV: Big Thief seduce and charm once again with relaxing tunes. Sensitive ones, sad ones
and other related emotive ones, but always ear-pleasing ones. They don’t rock, nor do they really pop, it’s the band’s folk background that gives all soothings songs here, a laid-back campfire feel. More acoustic than electrical resonance.

No unnecessary bells and whistles, no fake glamour, no studio tricks for BT. They’re about authentic reveries and musings, and Adrienne Lenker‘s voice was made for these serene and reflective moments. A great companion for a night in.

SUEDE Fuel Your Adrenaline Production With New Album ‘ANTIDEPRESSANTS’

5 September 2025

London’s glam rock/pop celebs SUEDE orchestrated by their never aging
frontman Brett Anderson, have their 10th LP, baptized ANTIDEPRESSANTS
out today.

Press info: “The album is a milestone achievement that sees the band at the top of their game. It follows the success of their critically acclaimed ninth UK Top 10 album Autofiction, released in September 2022, which charted at No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart and was their highest-charting release in over 20 years.”

Uncut Magazine (British music monthly) “Antidepressants is the most unhinged,
intoxicating Suede album since Coming Up, and boasts the best first side of a goth
album since the Banshees’ Juju.”

Press photo

TUTV: On their last albums, guitars dominate way more than on their first 3/4 ones, creating a wall of elevating electricity with an epic sonority. It results in more rock swagger than pop sensibility, even when they slow down (Somewhere Between An Atom And A Star and June Rain) guitars have an overpowering impact. Only Brett Anderson melodramatic
can compete with them. His hypersensitive vocality is always present upfront and an instrumental factor for Suede‘s glamorous aura.

And the songs themselves? The singles (Dancing With Europeans / Trance State and Disintegrate) and the title track stand out. Their anthemic puissance hits your ears with huge fervidness. The other 7 songs try to have the very same impact but try too hard
to do so.

Mind you, most of them have an adrenalizing quality, but not enough to make the whole album a 5-star one. Yet, many other bands would sell their soul to have the necessary craftsmanship to write tunes like Anderson & Co still do today.

THE HIVES By Numbers – Punk Wisecrackers Have New LP ‘THE HIVES FOREVER, FOREVER THE HIVES’ Out

29 August 2025

Swedish punk wisecrackers THE HIVES dropped their 7th full-length,
titled The Hives Forever, Forever The Hives today.

Kerrang says: “The Hives are like an endless circle of rock’n’roll celebration.
As with all their albums, this one dresses repeated formulas in different clothes,
cool clothes obviously, but doing enough to keep excitement levels high.

The Hives have been around a quarter of a century. So while they’re nobody’s
new favourite band now, good luck in finding an old one that’s this much fun.”

TUTV: Another Hives record, another Hives by numbers one. It will not change
my opinion on these reckless Swedish veteran punks. An exhilarative live band
(saw them several times), but a middle-of-the-road one on record, repeating
themselves over and over again. Fortunately, they have chief-comedian Pelle
to distract the fans. Without him, no fun whatsoever.

Mind you, I can compile a greatest hits album with about 15 superior tunes,
but out of 7 LPs that’s not enough for my liking. As usual, their singles are the
best tracks (except ‘Legalize Living’), and were and will be on my headphones
for a while. The Hives sometimes, sometimes The Hives.

Today British Hip-Crossover-Hop Duo NOVA TWINS Unleashed ‘PARASITES & BUTTERFLIES’

29 August 2025

New album artwork

Band: NOVA TWINS
Who: Potent urban R&B punk two-piece,
featuring Georgia South and Amy Love, from
London.

Their 3rd longplayer, titled PARASITES & BUTTERFLIES is out today.

Press info: “The new album, is a genre-defying journey through life’s chaos and beauty, blending hip-hop, punk, rock, pop and electronic influences. Fearless and unflinching, it explores empowerment, identity, and mental health, balancing turbulence with clarity
and vulnerability with strength.

The record boasts tracks that’ll make you want to cry, laugh, dance; spanning themes of female empowerment, mental health, grief and letting loose – With focus firmly on giving back to the fans with dedicated experiences.”

Kerrang: “They’re The Shining twins of the music world, always showing up both hand in hand, and exuding an aura that’s not to be reckoned with. Their power? A divine feminine energy that they’ll never be willing to sacrifice to make others comfortable, or to tough out the hard times. Parasites & Butterflies is another trip into the Nova world, mirroring rage, fear, swagger, and
all in between.”

Photo by Turn Up The Volume – Lokerse Feesten, Belgium – 2024

TUTV: Nova Twins develop a robust hip-metal-pop rowdiness that does your head
in the way you like it when you want to go apeshit for a while to process all daily shit.

They unleash their demons once again, and once started, they’re unstoppable. Hammer after hammer, drone after drone. Don’t expect world-class hits, NV are more about building a wall-of-crossover commotion which expresses and translates their inner turmoil.

The twins are about emotional exuberance and against any kind of human intolerance. They are combative butterflies chasing terrifying parasites on record and even more on stage. Yes, If you have the chance to see them live, don’t hesitate, go.

No wonder, RATM’s guitarist Tom Morello is a big fan. Some time
ago he said: “This is an incredible band who deserve to be huge.”

SUPERCHUNK – Melodic Guitar Rock Vets Entertain Amidst Our Difficult Times With ‘SONGS IN THE KEY OF YIKES’

28 August 2025

Veteran guitar rockers SUPERCHUNK from North Carolina entered
the scene back in 1989, and are still alive and kicking around.

Their 13th LP, baptized SONGS IN THE KEY OF YIKES is out now.

Mac McCaughan (guitar/vocals and co-founder of Merge Records): “It’s always
been the case that everyone is going through something that you may not be aware
of. This is currently more true than ever—but also the case that we are all going through
some things together. In the face of that, what good is art and where is happiness
found? (Spoiler alert: I don’t know.)”

Pitchfork: “At times, bursts of velocity push the group toward a kind of transcendence, particularly when the spiky “Everybody Dies” is chased by the galvanizing gallop of “Stuck
in a Dream.” The moments of speed also lend a sense of urgency to McCaughan’s nagging anxiety, which complements the barbed melodies and gnarled chords; every element
suggests that he’s searching for a way outside of his head.”

TUTV: Superchunk have no intention to reinvent the rock wheel, and why should they,
as long as they come up with action-packed and sticky guitar tunes like you find a bunch
of them on this new record. They’re definitely aware of the distressful times we’re going through.

And they don’t ignore our daily shit race, but as with most of us, they have more
questions than answers. Why not take all possible opportunities to have some fun,
now and then? Songs In the Key Of Yikes is one of those moments. Press play and enjoy.

WOLF ALICE – British Indies Join Stylistic Modern-Day Pop Universe With 4th Album ‘THE CLEARING’

27 August 2025

Band: WOLF ALICE
Who: Lauded British guitar pop quartet, fronted
by the charismatic vocalist Ellie Rowsell.

New album: THE CLEARING
Their 4th one.

NME says: “After the chaos of your twenties, over the threshold of your thirties, you’ll
often find a sense of calm. You’ve spent a decade of adulthood figuring out who you are
and what you want from life through trial and messy error. Now, more settled in your sense
of self, you get to take a breather and enjoy what you’ve happened upon through the madness.

‘The Clearing’, Wolf Alice’s sublime fourth album, represents that moment of clarity and peace, and leaving your youthful turmoil behind – even if you know there’s more disorder to come before you pop your clogs. Fittingly, it’s a record that builds on everything the four-piece have done so far on their musical journey and moves it forward in an assured, accomplished way that can only be achieved with time and experience.

TUTV: With their previous album, 2021’s Blue Weekend, the band already moved
on from indie guitar pop and glitzy rockers to more orchestral, singer-songwriter compositions, which fit vocalist Ellie Rowsell wonderfully well.

With The Clearing,  the changing, musical process is complete. It’s now more
ELLIE + THE WOLF (yes, FLORENCE + THE MACHINE territory) than before.

The quartet operates here in the stylistic modern-day pop world of artists such
as Chapelle Roan, Suki Waterhouse, Horsegirl, Lucy Dacus, and yes, even the sugary
The Last Dinner Party.

Overall, the British press applauds the change as if WA invented the genre. Nope,
they just decided to join the immensely and globally successful pop universe of the past
10 years, putting glamorous Ellie Rowsell in the middle, more than ever. Not really what I hoped for, but in a bigger market, they’ll become bigger stars than they already were.

DEFTONES Build Titanic Wall Of Passionate Sound On Their 10th Album ‘PRIVATE MUSIC’

22 August 2025

Nu-metal heavyweights DEFTONES have been around producing decibels of racket
since 1988 (yep, time flies). Now and then, they took a long break to refill their tanks.

It’s been 5 years now since they
released their Ohms album.

Scary album artwork

But the wait is over.

Longplayer number 10, baptized
Private Music has landed today.

Press info: Deftones have always defined boundless creativity in the music space.
Across nine prior studio albums, they have carved out an unmistakable sonic identity, ferocious yet dreamlike, while making space for constant refinement and surprise.

Now, decades on from the groove-forward sound of their era-defining debut, Adrenaline, and following a long line of masterpieces including 2000’s White Pony, 2010’s Diamond Eyes, and 2020’s Ohms — an album that earned them their 2nd and 3rd Grammy nominations — they return with one of the most focused statements of their career: private music.

Meditating on the beauty and peril of nature, the challenge of cultivating a positive mindset, and visions of a journey beyond the physical realm, private music showcases Deftones at their most evolved. At once a psychedelic voyage and a skull-rattling wallop,
it’s the latest peak in a catalog filled with immersive, emotive triumphs.”

NME says: “Another career high from rock’s most reliable band. Deftones’ 10th album is a gift for fans old, new, and certainly finding them in the very distant future. Their peers can’t touch them.”

TUTV: I’m not a manic nu-metal fan, but the titanic wall of sound
on this bursting powerhouse LP has an overwhelming, vivacious
and immensely passionate impact on your ears and your psyche.
And like that a lot. Hallelujah.

RADIOHEAD Stream New Live Album ‘HAIL TO THE THIEF LIVE RECORDINGS 2003-2009’ Now – Vinyl In October

19 August 2025

It’s been 9 years since RADIOHEAD released their last LP A Moon Shaped Pool.
Afterward all members, mostly frontman Thom Yorke, did solo work or got involved
in collaborative projects.

But they’re back now, well, sort of. They just shared a live album, named HAIL TO THE THIEF LIVE RECORDINGS 2003-2009. The album compiles live versions of 12 of the songs from the 2003 record taken from performances in London, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires and Dublin. Have a listen below, great quality.

‘There There’ live in Buenos Aires

Thom Yorke: “In the process of thinking of how to build arrangements for
the Shakespeare Hamlet/Hail To The Thief theatre production. I asked to hear
some archive live recordings of the songs. I was shocked by the kind of energy
behind the way we played.

I barely recognised us, and it helped me find a way forward. We decided to
get these live recordings mixed and released (it would have been insane to
keep them for ourselves). It has all been a very cathartic process. We very
much hope you enjoy them.”

The album will also be available on vinyl
as a one-off pressing, out October 31.

Pre-order here.

THE NEW EVES Introduce Their Stunning Medieval Folk Punk Vision With Debut LP ‘THE NEW EVE IS RISING’

9 August 2025

Band: THE NEW EVES
Who: Must hear/see indies from Brighton (where everybody is in a band).
They cruise from folk to punk, using, besides traditional instruments (guitar,
bass and drums) also cello, flute, violin and other classical gear.

I saw them performing in Brussels 2 years
ago. It was a sterling, ear-and-eye spectacle.

Photo by Turn Up The Volume

Album: THE NEW EVE IS RISING.
Their debut.

NME says: “The Brighton band are unconcerned by modern trends, building
their own singular free-spirited world where they make the rules. You won’t
find a hint of jittery post-punk or cavernous stomp-clap pop on the band’s
debut album.

A record that instead mines the unpredictable free-spiritedness of freak folk,
the loose, louche nature of rock’n’roll and the no-rules attitude of punk.”

TUTV: Eccentricity is the new normal. Poetic, medieval music is among us.
The New Eves are something special, really special. Next to drum/bass/guitar
they use more untraditional instruments such as cello, flute, violin and other
classical music gear.

At their core, musically, they’re a folk punk rock band, an outlandish one, that is.
One of those that play gloriously out of tune at times, enthuse up with splendacious chants and have your bewildering attention for the full 40 baffling minutes. One of
the most innovative records of the year. Hands down.

Singles: Highway Man / Rivers Run Red / The New Eve / Cow Song

– HIGHWAY MAN –
Modern-day punk cry out.

– THE NEW EVE –
Cacophonic spiritual.

– RIVERS RUN RED –
Wayward flute-guitar-drum hypnotizer.

– COW SONG –
