SNÕÕPER – Nashville’s Rat Race Punks Speed Up Again On Their Sophomore Album ‘WORLDWIDE’

Nashville‘s kamikaze pop punk combo SNÕÕPER hit the scene, 2 years ago,
with their rapid-fire debut LP Super Snõõper. 14 songs in 22 minutes, like in
the good old Ramones days.

Last June, they dropped a 4-track EP, titled Unknown Caller.

And last weekend they unleashed their sophomore album,
titled Worldwide via Jack White’s Third Man Records.

Photo by Turn Up The Volume – Brussels, May 18, 2025

Press info: “Worldwide is a mission statement for the record not just thematically,
but also aesthetically, showcasing Snooper’s stylistic exploration. Newly inspired by electronic music, the rhythm of Worldwide is unrelenting and mechanistic, capturing the frenzied pace at which Snooper’s lives were moving, but allowing for release in Tramel’s yelps and Connor Cummins’ scuzzy guitar breaks.”

TUTV: Suppose the mailman has delivered you
the LP this morning, and you ride a car to go to work.

PLAY IT during breakfast, but check your
pulse before you get in your the car.

DON’T PLAY IT in the car, ’cause you’ll surpass the speed limit within
30 seconds, which is not a good thing when the lights are turning red.

PLAY IT during your lunch break, and challenge your
co-workers to a roller skate race through the office.

STOP PLAYING IT when your boss catches you, doing a
series of somersaults, forth and back, over your desk.

Yes, track #9 is a Beatles cover.

PLAY IT when you’re in the bathroom, it can
be useful for your activity in there.

DON’T PLAY IT on the way home, you have
already wrecked your car in the morning.

PLAY IT on repeat when you get home and pretend you’re
a kamikaze pilot or, that’s big fun too, a pit bull on acid.

LOBSTERBOMB – Riotious Pop-Punk Team From Berlin Get ‘OVERSTIMULATED’ On Their 2nd Album

7 October 2025

Band: LOBSTERBOMB
Who: Glamorous indie quartet from Berlin. They released
their pithy party debut album Look Out in 2023. You can
stream it here.

New album: OVERSTIMULATED
Their sophomore one. Produced and mixed by Karen Dhios.
It was recorded in the Berlin studio of Thomas Götz, drummer
of the German punk band Beatsteaks.

Lobsterbomb told TUTV about the album:” The album explores themes of self-discovery, emotional struggle, and the tension between chaos and control. The lyrics delve deep into moments of inner turmoil, clarity, and resilience.

At its core, the album is about facing life, exploring, and discovering something new about yourself and the world with each passing year. It reflects the dystopian reality we live in, a hypernormalized society in which we are constantly expected to function and look the other way.

‘Overstimulated’ is both a cry of protest and process of liberation: the desire to break free from the pressure of expectations and celebrate life’s simple pleasures—without closing our eyes to reality.

Musically, the band remains true to itself while simultaneously exploring new avenues. The characteristically cathartic, energetic sound has been further developed with new bassist Em Ritchie, and expanded with new sonic facets. The album was produced and mixed by Karen Dhios and was recorded in the Berlin studio of Thomas Götz (drummer of the German punk band Beatsteaks).

TUTV: Lobsterbomb serve a salvo of riff-roasting, pop-punk firecrackers starting with the three super-duper singles (Not Again / Falling / Overstimulated) to whip up the party, and along the way you’ll find another trio of knockouts that could easily have been singles too (Nighbird / Paranoia / Nothing To Lose).

Six singles out of 12 tracks. Not a daily thing. And don’t worry about the other songs. There’s not one dull moment on this record. There’s enough catching firepower to keep you in a hyperkinetic trance of perked up elation for the full 33 minutes.

Nico Rosch‘s temperamental riot grrrl vocality and screaming explosiveness are a vital
part of Lobsterbomb‘s sharp-cutting sonic boom. They fit each other as a warm-blooded glove, like a well-oiled sucker-punch team.

You’ll feel overwhelmingly overstimulated in the end. Damn, that feels good.
There’s always a Lobsterbomb booster at the end of the tunnel to face the
world in all its unpredictable twists. Top-drawer accomplishment.

AFI – Californian Gothwave Celebs Go Nuclear On New Album ‘SILVER BLEEDS THE BLACK SUN…’

4 October 2025

Band: AFI (abbreviation for A Fire Inside)

Who: Weathered high-volume veteran goth rockers
from Ukiah, California who started to turn up the
darkwave decibels in 1991.

Album: SILVER BLEEDS THE BLACK SUN…
Their 12th one.

Album artwork

Press info: “For more than three decades, AFI has been a band in a constant state
of reinvention. No album they’ve released has sounded much like the one before it, sometimes dramatically so. The band has never gotten too comfortable in one genre
or allowed themselves to coast on any successes.

It’s an approach that has regularly challenged their audience, as their sonic identity has shifted in wild, unexpected directions every few years. But on their twelfth album, Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…, the members of AFI managed to surprise even themselves.”

Davey Havok (frontman): “I realize this is something we’ve said about our records
for years, but this record is starkly different from what we’ve done in the past. In our
33 years together, we’ve covered so much, musically, that I found myself daunted at
the prospect of doing something different, and questioning what that would be.”

TUTV: AFI display the same Goth grandeur and darkwave bombast Bauhaus were
so famous for. But they even take it a level higher with their galactic, bass-motorized tunes, supercharged with sky-scraping, nuclear choruses.

It all feels like watching a Götterdämmerung opera with vivacious vox Havok as the
star in the middle, surrounded by a full hellacious orchestra. Raise the stage curtain.
Aplause! Aplause!

UPCHUCK – Young Atlanta Punks Serve Old Skool Punk With Sharp-Teethed Tenacity On New Album ‘I’M NICE NOW’

3 October 2025

© Photo credit: Michael Tyrone Delaney

Band: UPCHUCK
Who: High-voltage punks
from Atlanta, Georgia.

Album: I’m Nice Now

Produced by TY Segall.

Press info: Upchuck channels their feverishness into an album that,
yes, is filled with rage. But in addition to being a continuation of their
musical exorcism, the album delivers a sharp critique of the powers
that be, lamenting why they still have to be those in power.

Album artwork

Kerrang says: “This is punk as it was always meant to be: loud, ugly, righteous and alive.
I’m Nice Now isn’t just an album, it’s a survival tactic, a soundtrack to resistance in a country still burning.”

TUTV: When young punks play old skool punk you get bands like Upchuck. Their sharp-teethed tenacity, perseverance and hardihood bring 80s angry dogs Dead Kennedys and Black Flag to mind. The message is more important than the racket they all produce. As millions of Americans do, Upchuck also feel trapped by the tyrannical regime in the White House.

Their cathartic music helps them to ventilate all the shit they’re confronted with every single day. Ty Segall‘s production is spot on. I’m sure he took them to a filthy basement somewhere and created an out-of-tune sound that resonates exactly like these Atlanta bohos want to express themselves. Raw, rough, and real. The Upchuck revolution starts here.

JEFF TWEEDY Has His New Triple Album ‘TWILIGHT OVERRIDE’ Out

28 September 2025

Album cover

57-year-old songsmith JEFF TWEEDY has always been a very productive musician
from his early days on with Uncle Tupelo (1987-1994), then of course with Wilco,
13 albums so far, and solo.

Last Friday he unveiled his new solo LP, actually a triple-one with no less
than 30 songs (yep, very productive). It’s titled TWILIGHT OVERRIDE.

Stereogum says: “Here we have 30(!) new songs, a document of inspiration overflowing.
For the casual listener, it’s intimidating, maybe even exhausting. However, if you have love
for Tweedy’s music in your heart, if you’ve had your taste imprinted by his weary rasp and expansive sonic vision, if multiple eras of your life have been soundtracked by Wilco, how
can you be anything but grateful for such an outpouring?”

Topdrawer single / Glorious title

TUTV: Tweedy does here what he does best, mixing seamlessly country rock, classic rock,
warm-hearted balladry, romantic lullabies, and musing reflections. As all fans know, he has
a great storytelling voice, taking his work to a most entertaining level.

But 30 songs are way too much to hold my attention, mainly because several songs
are variations of other songs, which leads to listening fatigue (for my ears that is). So
I reduced the triple LP to my fav 12 songs and get myself a notable Tweedy album.

PÔT-POT – Indie Psych Quartet Explored The Past And Returned With Their Magnetizing Debut Album ‘WARSAW 480 KM’

25 September 2025

Band: PÔT-POT
Who: Irish/Portuguese quintet who infuse the propulsive grooves of krautrock
with a phosphorescent psych-rock radiance, all underscored by harmonium drones, hypnotic male-female vocal harmonies, and deep layers of rough-hewn texture.

Album: WARSAW 480 KM
Their debut.

Press info: “Evolved primarily from demos by multi-instrumentalist and lead vocalist Mark Waldron-Hyden during a period of grief and personal upheaval, the album came to life through a series of live, full-band studio sessions that document an exceptional array of talents, unified in an embrace of raw catharsis with a sweetly sinister edge. A defining element of ‘Warsaw 480km’ is its impressive range of influences and atmospheric topographies.

Waldron-Hyden about the record: “I wrote the first batch of songs while not really living in one place, so I think they have a kind of transient feel to them – developing them with the band helped me process an era in which I was emotionally freewheeling, so they remind me equally of the beautiful experience we shared as a creative unit and the difficult times that inspired them.”

“Ollie [Oliver Smith] and Sara [Sara Leslie] are experts at getting the most out of one pedal, a shitty amp, and a guitar they borrowed, a result of innate talent and years of experience; they use some modulation for dronier passages, but it’s their playing styles and understanding of ‘the vibe’ that are the secret ingredients.” This kind of intuitive connection and collaboration is incredibly rare, and with these ten pieces, pôt-pot accomplish something truly rapturous as they alchemize deep pain into a luminous reverie.”

TUTV: PÔT-POT are definitely psych rock fanatics. They explored the past, took notes and shaped a debut record that interprets their vision on the timeless genre. No, it’s certainly not a copy/paste job.

You will hear magnetizing echoes from legendary luminaries such as The Velvet Underground, Can and Love and modern era bands such as Black Angels, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols.

Warsaw 480km is stuffed with far-out Krautrock-like jams, hypnotizing riffs, kinetic rhythms, multi-layered jangly guitar layers, hallucinatory wanderings and psyched-out grooves. It’s an overall extravagant piece of trance-inducing work. Not many debut
albums have that mind-bending impact. Top-tier accomplishment.

MUM – Icelandic Daydreamers Massage Your Mind And Your Ears With New Album ‘HISTORY OF SILENCE’

21 September 2025

Artwork album

Band: Múm
Who: Icelandic indietronica
outfit formed in 1997.

Album: History Of Silence
Their first one in 12 years.

Photo: Ben Rayner / Terrorbird Media

Flood Magazine (Los Angeles): “The fractured nature of the record is nothing new for
the Icelandic band, of course. For a quarter century now, they’ve been weaving together elements of indie-folk, electronica, and ambient dream pop on a grand scale typically
reserved for post-rock.

With their peers and fellow countrymen Sigur Rós as an obvious point of reference,
the music they created during their initial decade or so of output feels equally primed
for soundtrack placement within just about any dramatic film genre. As History of Silence reminds us, though, these songs already contain a world within them without
complementing any screenplay.”

TUTV: History Of Silence‘s strength lies in its mind-relaxing impact. It feels like an ear massage. Sweet, slo-mo synth/piano symphonies, enlivened now and then with crystalline guitar sparks transfer you to a de-stressing place, far away from the noisy reality, while heartfelt duet vocals complete the tranquil sonority. Headphone music for the midnight hours.

BAXTER DURY Released His 9th LP ‘ALLBARONE’ Filled With Buzzing Bass Grooves And Hip-Shaking Vibes

17 September 2025

British, intriguing songsmith BAXTER DURY has
his 9th full-length baptized ALLBARONE out.

Dury about the album: “It’s kind of a character arc that goes through the whole thing,
two personalities. It’s very critical of people, this album, whoever they are, maybe some
bloke with a moustache and sockless loafers in Shoreditch or a fat old Chiswick gangster lording it up in a really comfortable middle class part of London”

“I don’t want to say it’s contemporary. Because I sound like a cunt using that word.
But it does sound really contemporary. It doesn’t sound like a Harrods hamper band
made it. It doesn’t sound like a band made it all. Which is what I wanted most of all.
It’s just something that’s brand new for me. It’s quite exciting, really.”

Photo by Turn Up The Volume – Lokerse Feesten, Belgium

The Quietus writes: “The self-proclaimed Nylon Panther is back and this time he’s shown
up with a wingman. It wouldn’t be the first time he’s worked with an electronically-inclined accomplice. This time around, Grammy and Academy Award winning record producer Paul Epworth is at the controls, and the meeting of minds between a pair of West London geezers makes for Dury’s most cohesive adventure since Prince of Tears.

Allbarone, then, is arguably the rawest and truest manifestation of Baxter Dury yet. Having a hype man suits him musically, and in a funny sort of way, Epworth’s presence seems to offer some moral support as well.”

TUTV: Dury does it again. Allabarone is another invitation to get up, stand up and sway your pelvis to sultry beats. Buzzing bass grooves and hip-shaking vibes have you going non-stop while he tells/whispers/sings his weird stories about weird characters.

He applies his formula throughout the full record, just a bit too
much, but it’s unquestionably an album to taste on a regular basis.

Ho99o9 – Trash & Crash Punks Rage Against The Daily Rat Race Machine With New LP ‘TOMORROW WE ESCAPE’

13 September 2025

Press photo by Nick Fancher

Band: Ho99o9 (pronounced Horror)
Who: Trashing rap-punk duo – theOGM and Eaddy – from Newark, New Jersey.
They released, so far, two albums United States of Horror (2019), Skin (2022)
and last year’s mixtape Territory: Turf Talk, Vol II .

Now they have full-length number three, called TOMORROW WE ESCAPE out.

TheOGM in an interview with New Noise Maagzine: “On this record, it’s a sound that has grown as we’ve grown as people and us finding new ways of making music. Some bands are just legendary and popular for what they did at that time, and we don’t want to stay put in that box and become this one sound. We want to be able to grow and express our musical range and artistry, so it’s an evolved sound and [a process] of trying new things and not compromising.”

“There’s so much going on in the world right now and it’s very overwhelming. You have to sit back and realign yourself, focus, and push through. That’s on a personal level and family level. If you’re going [on] that political route and that’s what you’re about, you gotta go that route,
but everybody has a different route.”

Album artwork

We’re all human beings and we all go through different stages of emotions every day. A family member could have passed, you’re going to a party with friends, or you’re at a show raving. It’s [all] walks of life and we’re going through things in our personal lives that other people can relate to. We want to give the listenrers a “light at the end of the tunnel.” “We just have to be focused enough to get there.”

TUTV: You can relax for 2.22 minutes during the opening lines of I Miss Home. From
there on, the louder than war sledgehammers start to mess up your speakers. Imagine Rage Against The Machine have a motherfucking rap-scream contest with Body Count
while the crushing crossover decibels, trash and crash the roof.

That’s how Ho99o9 deals with our daily, suffocating, rat race. Chop, chop, chop.
Attack, attack, attack. Hit, hit, hit. Don’t escape yet, guys, let’s party hard first.

DAVID BYRNE Takes You On A Merry-Go-Round With New Solo Album ‘WHO IS THE SKY?’

8 September 2025

Former chief talking head DAVID BYRNE
has his 9th solo LP, titled Who Is The Sly?
out.

Byrne: “Someone I know said, ‘David, you use the word ‘everybody’ a lot.’ I suppose
I do that to give an anthropological view of life in New York as we know it.Everybody
lives, dies, laughs, cries, sleeps and stares at the ceiling. Everybody’s wearing everybody
else’s shoes, which not everybody does, but I have done.

I tried to sing about these things that could be seen as negative in a way balanced
by an uplifting feeling from the groove and the melody, especially at the end, when
St. Vincent and I are doing a lot of hollering and singing together. Music can do that,
hold opposites simultaneously. I realized that when singing with Robyn earlier this
year. Her songs are often sad, but the music is joyous.”

Photo by: Ahmed Klink / Costume by: Tom Van der Borght

“At my age, at least for me, there’s a ‘don’t give a shit about what people think’ attitude
that kicks in. ”I can step outside my comfort zone with the knowledge that I kind of know
who I am by now and sort of know what I’m doing. That said, every new set of songs, every song even, is a new adventure. There’s always a bit of, ‘how do I work this?’ I’ve found that not every collaboration works, but often when they do, it’s because I’m able to clearly impart what it is I’m trying to do. They hopefully get that, and as a result, we’re now joined together heading to the same unknown place.”

TUTV: Well, I can’t add much to what the man said. He takes us on his merry-go-round. Probably his most upbeat longplayer ever. Lots of groovin’ and movin’, flamenco echoes and Mexican trumpets. Sonically, he entertains with frisky tunes and melancholic lullabies.

Lyrically, as usual, he comes up bizarre stories and bizarre song titles such as
My Appartment Is My Friend, A Door Called No and I Hear The Buddha At A Cocktail Party.
My fav tracks: Everybody Laughs, When We Are Singing, that Buddha Song and The Avant Garde.”
