Last May the music world was shocked when the sad news of
the sudden death of renowned producer STEVE ALBINI came
in. He died of a heart attack, only 61.

He produced so many artists/bands with Kim Deal as one
of the most recent ones. Albini produced her brand-new solo
album Nobody Loves You More.

It was so weird to see that a couple of weeks later Albini‘s band
Shellac, had their 6th LP, named TO ALL TRAINS, out. One of
the best albums of 2024 on my list.

.

Yesterday, a street arrow near his Electrical Audio studio in Chicago,
renamed Steve Albini Way, was officially revealed. Kim Deal spoke
at the ceremony and the Mekons and Jeff Tweedy played some songs.

Kim Deal: “He was a flawed human; he would contradict himself in two sentences.
But at his core he understood the value of each person. Well, not each person. If you
were a bully, he wouldn’t like you at all. Maybe he stuck up for people too hard. He
wanted to stick up for the underdogs. He really didn’t like ‘winners.’ I think he liked
people with a good, healthy dose of low self esteem.”

ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN Guitarist WILL SERGEANT Produced New COURTNEY LOVE Solo Album

26 November 2024

Last night Echo & The Bunnymen‘s guitarist and multi-instrumentalist
WILL SERGEANT posted this message on the band’s Facebook account.

“From @ Will Sergeant. Evening all my old friend Courtney Love has spilled the beans,
so I think I can now. Been working on her amazing new record. Been a trip, she gave
me complete artistic freedom. Loved every minute, autoharp, electric mandolin, Bulbul
Tarang, baritone guitar plus layers of 12 & 6 string guitars.

Courtney Love on Tik Tok about the album she already teased this past summer,
the day before Sergeant‘s announcement : “It’s the longest record that’s ever been written in the history of rock, so it better fuckin’ be good, no filler. I don’t do “collabs” — man, I hate that word! However, I have co-written songs with some people on this album. [REM’s Michael] Stipe mentioned our collaboration to The New York Times. I fell down weeping hearing his voice — it’s better than ever! I thought I knew the outcome, but I’m still the grasshopper while Michael is the sensei. There are others I can’t mention; I didn’t intend for any collaborations.

I did ask PJ Harvey to come back — I wanted just one of her great iconic Stones guitar riffs. We have a relationship; I’ve endorsed her over the decades, but she chose not to respond to me. So I wrote her about how fucking rude that was. Her manager tried to smooth things over, but it’s not okay — she hasn’t played rock music in 100 years! Her first five albums are great; after that, she ventured into art space (though I do love the Last Living Rose, which feels like a John Donne poem with… WTF? A tuba?.

Kurt Cobain‘s infamous widow COURTNEY LOVE released 4 albums
with Hole and one solo LP, named America’s Sweetheart 20 years
ago, in 2004.

She also played in 7 movies. Trust me, she’s a great actress.

GREEN DAY Were Forced To Stop Their Show In Missouri Due To Bad Weather

At a show at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Missouri last Thursday
veteran punks GREEN DAY were forced to stop their show as a lightning
storm was coming up.

At one point Billie Joe Armstrong addressed the crowd: “Ok you guys, that’s it.
We gotta get you out of here, because there’s a big lightning storm that’s coming
right now. Thank you so much!”

He then started to play a very fast version of ‘Good Riddance’.
Keep walking,” he said, in between verses.

Watch the moment.
