DEXELLE – Flamboyant Belgian Singer-Songwriter Excels With Synth-Pop Pearl ‘DEATH OF A ROSE’

Daily electricity to charge your batteries

2 October 2026

Artist: DEXELLE
Who: Seasoned singer-songwriter-guitarist
Nicolas D’Exelle from Antwerp, Belgium.

TUTV: Death Of A Rose is a shiny electro-pop pearl enriched with glammy orchestrations (think Scritti Politti), spot-on arrangements, Dexelle‘s stylish and impassioned vocals, and busy bass riffage.

It all results in a tremendously catchy tune for which repeat buttons were invented. Although the song’s story runs on mixed emotions, it’s the kind of sonic gem that puts
a big smile on your face and makes your day before it even begins.

Dexelle operates on this newbie in a space where you can show your funky dance moves
to synth-pop bliss by experts such as Tame Impala, MGMT, Two Door Cinema Club. Great company, right? You betcha.

Press play and shake your booty, people.

Discover Belgian Power Pop Outfit DEXELLE

22 September 2025

Let me introduce you to emotive Belgian power pop outfit DEXELLE,
led by seasoned singer-songwriter-guitarist Nicolas D’Exelle.

During the awful corona crisis, he started to write new songs which materialized
later on in 2 EPs, Tired Mind (2022) and Is This What You Want? (2025).

Put those 2 together and you’ll have yourself a magnific album, stuffed with classy songwriting quality. Think 80s Britpop bands Scritti Politti and Prefab Sprout whose glittery pop splendor which buoyed up the UK indie scene in the mid-80s.

D’Exelle cherishes his craft with love and dedication. He designs titillating tunes that charm and enthrall with their richly orchestrated synth/guitar layers, as well as their mesmerizing melodiousness. His expressive, crystalline voice shines in the middle and completes the sonic picture with sultry style and feverish flair.

Stream/check this year’s EP and its
wonderful single Nobody Knows below.

IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT?

To be honest, I had never heard of the band until last Saturday when my partner in music blog crime from renowned Belgian top blog Luminous Dash invited me to one of their club gigs. Count me in as a fan now. Their swirling set was a captivating affair, with all amps up, decibels up, and the temperature up.

Live, they rock more than they pop. D’Exelle‘s flamboyant stage presence, vivid
vocality and electrifying guitar play, now and then, upfront is the aural and visual attraction of the night. Mind you, he is backed by a solid, well-oiled 5-piece to translate
his work from record to podium with a lot of dash and panache. Trust me, we’ll hear
more excellent stuff from this Antwerp team in the future.
