22 October 2026

Detroit-born rock legend BOB SEGER (81 now / 18th albums) released his
triumphant LP NIGHTMOVES on 22 October 1976, today 50 years ago.

It was his 9th longplayer and the first that credited his backing band,
the Silver Bullet Band, although they only perform on five of the nine
songs on the album. The other four features backing by the Muscle
Shoals Rhythm Section
.

It peaked at #8 in the US and #12 in Canada.

Rolling Stone said: “Night Moves is the breakthrough he needed, a stellar introduction
to this beautiful loser who finally connects with a mainstream audience. He sounds like
Rod Stewart and write lyrics like Bruce Springsteen. Classic rock ‘n’ roll.”
