Their massive reunion tour is on its way to America. Yesterday their 3rd LP
(the messed-up one) Be Here Now turned 28 and today, 20 years ago, the
2nd single, titled THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING IDLE from their 6th album Don’t Believe The Truth (the underrated one), came out.
The song was (of course) written, produced, and sung by Noel Gallagher.
Gallagher said later in an interview: “It sounds like songs from two British bands, The Kinks and The La’s. In particular, the guitar playing, as well as the sentiment expressed, is noticeably similar to The Kinks’ “Sunny Afternoon” and “Dead End Street”, while the rhythm is similar to that of “Clean Prophet” by the La’s. He also said that the lyrics are inspired by his own laziness, stating: “Having nothing to do is such a massive job that someone had to write a song about it.”

We the people fight for our existence
We don’t claim to be perfect but we’re free
We dream our dreams alone with no resistance
Fading like the stars we wish to be
You know I didn’t mean what I just said
But my God woke up on the wrong side of his bed
And it just don’t matter now
As little by little we gave you everything you ever dreamed of
Little by little the wheels of your life have slowly fallen off
Little by little you have to give it all in all your life And all the time I just ask myself why you’re really here?
True perfection has to be imperfect
I know that that sounds foolish but it’s true
Day has come, now you’ll have to accept
Life inside your head we give to you
You know I didn’t mean what I just said
But my God woke up on the wrong side of his bed
And it just don’t matter now
As little by little we gave you everything you ever dreamed of
Little by little the wheels of your life have slowly fallen off
Little by little you have to give it all in all your life
And all the time I just ask myself why you’re really here?
As little by little we gave you everything you ever dreamed of
Little by little the wheels of your life have slowly fallen off
Little by little you have to give it all in all your life
And all the time I just ask myself why you’re really here?
OASIS, the talk of the world right now, released their single ROLL WITH IT today 30 years (time flies supersonically) ago,
on 14 August 1995.
It was the 2nd single, following their No.1 hit Some Might Say from
their 2nd, million-selling album, What’s The Story (Morning Glory).
Blur deliberately released their single Country House on the same day.
Prior to the release day, their management started a smart ‘Battle of Britpop‘
campaign. Blur won the contest when they immediately topped the charts,
with Oasis coming in 2nd.
The single artwork features a photograph of the band on the beach at Weston-super-Mare, UK. Many potential locations were examined along the Somerset and Avon coastline. The Mancunians were playing Glastonbury that weekend, so a location within striking distance of the festival site had to be found.
Oasis here, Oasis there, Oasis everywhere.
Hard times for haters. They can hardly hide.
They will definitely look back in anger.
LOL. I love it.
Anyway, thanks to the Gallagher brothers the whole wide world now knows
that Wales is a country ((population of 3.2 million, 21,218 square kilometers,
part of the UK) by starting their huge reunion tour in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, a week ago.
For the millions of fans who couldn’t get a ticket the band just shared the recorded
version of Slide Away (from their 1994 debut LP Definitely Maybe) of that historic show.
And the money-machine surrounding all the commotion
(new merch, new this, new that) is working 24/7.
A box set of all 7 Oasis albums (on Vinyl and CD) will

Vile: “I always thought “classic love” was the epitome of a song that belonged on the radio. When I heard Luke and Kyle [Spence’s] recording of this it just floored me: like this could be old or new, just a timeless track… I figured the best way I could help it reach the masses was to just get myself up in that track as well and move ‘er through the KV/Verve machine.”
