27 April 1996 – First Of Two Massive OASIS Concerts At Manchester’s Maine Road Football Stadium

27 April 2025

After the release of their 2nd blockbuster LP What’s The Story (Morning Glory)
back in 1995, OASIS stormed towards world fame faster than a supersonic jet.

Two king-sized concerts – 26 & 27 April 1996 – that stood out of the tour that followed were the ones at the football stadium named Maine Road in Moss Side, Manchester where their beloved Manchester City played.

And back again.

OASIS Released Their First No 1 Hit Single In The UK ‘SOME MIGHT SAY’ This Day In 1995

Top singles from the past

24 April 2025

OasissOME

30 years ago today, on 24 April 1995, Manchester‘s rock kings OASIS released
SOME MIGHT SAY from their million-seller LP (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?
It was their 6th single and first No. 1 in the UK.

The single was also the last to feature all five original members,
as drummer Tony McCarroll was fired shortly after its release.

The sleeve artwork was created by Brian Cannon. It was shot on the
disused platform of Cromford, a railway station in Derbyshire, England.

This is how cool rock ‘n’ roll clips look like.

Their Top Of The Pops appearance was definitely cool too.

Album Tracks That Should Have Been Singles – ‘FUCKIN’ IN THE BUSHES (2000) By OASIS

16 April 2025

Band: OASIS

Track: FUCKIN’ IN THE BUSHES
Album: Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants
Their 4th one, released in 2000.

It’s not constructed as a single – no verse, pre-chorus, chorus, verse. Noel wrote
it – with Led Zeppelin in mind – specifically to have a killer intro for their concerts
(Liam used it later to start his solo shows too). And it worked brilliantly, therefore
it was worth a single. Anyway, for me that is.

Click to go straight to YT and watch/hear
Fuckin’ In The Bushes at Wembley, London,
on 21 July 2000.

Can you imagine! Because of the song’s title you
need to check into YT to see the footage. It’s 2025.

The concert was recorded and released on CD, named
Familiar To Millions, a couple of months later.

Anyway, there’s much speculation on who will complete the line-up
as Oasis had different band members over the years. Today Liam
revealed the names on X/Twitter.

Band: THE WHITE STRIPES

Album: Get Behind Me Satan
Their 5rh LP. #3 in the UK and the US.

Pitchfork: “On their fifth album, the White Stripes’ ambitions finally seem to outpace their limited musical vocabulary. Making an almost-entirely clean break with the jet-fueled blues
rock of Elephant and De Stijl, they forsake electric guitar on all but a couple of tracks, working instead with pianos, acoustic guitars, marimbas, and other assorted oddball percussion.”
