On 30 & 31 August 1969, two weeks after Woodstock,
the second Isle Of Wight Festival took place.

Over 150,000 turned up over the two days to see The Who, Bob Dylan, The Band, Blodwyn Pig, Blonde On Blonde, Bonzo Dog Dooh Dah Band, The Moody Blues, The Nice, and more.

Tickets were 25 shillings, ($3.00). Celebrities who attended include Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, John & Yoko, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Jane Fonder, Liz Taylor and Richard Burton.

The Who were headliner on day 1, August 30th.

On 15 August 1969, the notorious and historic
WOODSTOCK MUSIC AND ART FAIR kicked off
in Bethel, New York

Attended by over 400,000 people, the event featured, Jimi Hendrix, Crosby Stills
Nash & Young, Santana, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Grateful Dead, Janis
Joplin, The Band, Canned Heat, Joan Baez, Melanie, Ten Years After, Sly and the Family
Stone, Johnny Winter, Jefferson Airplane, Ravi Shanker, Country Joe and the Fish, Blood
Sweat and Tears, Arlo Guthrie, and Joe Cocker.

Woodstock offered the counterculture generation a respite amid the Vietnam War and unrest at home, and would become a defining moment of the era, as well as an iconic milestone in pop culture history.

The festival would be captured in a documentary
as well as a best-selling soundtrack to the film.

On 15 August 1969, the notorious WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL
at Max Yasgur’s farm in Bethel, New York, kicked off.

Approximately 400,000 fans trekked to the three-day event to see acts like
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Grateful Dead, Joe Cocker,
The Who, Janis Joplin, and Jefferson Airplane, among 25 others perform.

Billed as Three Days Of Peace & Music, the festival offered the counterculture
generation a respite, amid the Vietnam War and unrest at home, and would become
a defining moment of the era, as well as an iconic milestone in pop culture history.

The festival would be captured in a documentary
as well as a best-selling soundtrack to the film.

Summer Of 1969 – August 8th – ABBEY ROAD Shoot

The photo session for the cover of THE BEATLES 11th LP ABBEY ROAD took
place on the crossing outside Abbey Road studios in London, on 8 August 1969.

Photographer Iain McMillan, balanced on a step-ladder in the middle of the road took six shots of John, Ringo, Paul, and George walking across the zebra crossing while a policeman held up the traffic. The band then returned to the studio and recorded overdubs on ‘The End’, ‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy)’ and ‘Oh! Darling’.
