their epic debut single ALIVE (more than 711 million streams on Spotify).

It appeared on their debut album Ten.
It peaked at #16 both in the UK & US.

On 5 July 1975, prog rock icons PINK FLOYD played
at the legendary Knebworth Park in England.

They premiered their then-new LP Wish You Were Here in a spectacular way,
with Spitfires, pyrotechnics and an exploding plane which flew into the stage.

Captain Beefheart, Steve Miller and Roy Harper were
the support acts. Tickets were £3.50 (4,60 US dollars)

TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS (1976-2017) released their
8th LP Into The Great Wide Open today 35 years ago, on 2 July 1991.

It was the second produced with Jeff Lynne.
#3 in the UK, #13 in the US, #4 in Canada.

Featured on the LP’s cover is a reproduction of a painting, titled Autumn Landscape
by Czech-American modernist artist Jan Matulka (1890-1972). The original is owned
by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Entertainment Weekly (Former American magazine): “The closest thing to a “classic” album that Petty and the Heartbreakers had made in 15 years, and a return to the quality of their first two albums.”

Legendary pop songsmiths CROWDED HOUSE (1985–1996, 2006–2011, 2019–present) from down under released their 3rd album, named WOODFACE on 1 July 1991, today
35 years ago.

It topped the New Zealand charts, reached #2 in Australia and #6 in the UK.

AllMusic said: Woodface represents the joy of reunion and the freedom of a collaborative effort, more than half of the album was originally conceived as a Finn Brothers project, which was Tim and Neil’s first crack at writing together. The record combines flawless melodies and outstanding harmonies of the brothers’ perfectly matched voices.”

On 30 June 1977, American comic book publisher Marvel Comics launched a book
based on the rock group KISS. Blood from each band member was drawn by a registered nurse, witnessed by a notary public, and poured into the vats of red ink used for printing the comic at Marvel’s Borden Ink plant in Depew, New York.

Afterward, a ton of more Kiss comics followed.
