DAFT PUNK – French Electro Disco Duo Released Second Album ‘DISCOVERY’ Today 25 Years Ago

Significant longplayers from yesteryear

12 March 2026

French electro disco tandem DAFT PUNK released
their 2nd full-length DISCOVERY on 12 March 2001,
today 25 years ago.

The album marked a shift from the Chicago house style of their
debut Homework from 1997 to a house style more heavily inspired
by disco, post-disco, garage house, and R&B.

Thomas Bangalter (hamf of DP) described the LP as an exploration
of song structures, musical forms and childhood nostalgia, compared
to the “raw” electronic music of Homework.

Q Magazine (former reknowed British music monthly): “Discovery is vigorous
and innovative in its exploration of old questions and spent ideals. Aa towering,
persuasive tour de force that transcends the dance label with no shortage of
ideas, humour, or brilliance.’

TENACIOUS D Cover BRITNEY SPEARS One Time

10 March 2024

Madcap actors rock duo TENACIOUS D featuring Jack Black and Kyle Gass
scored a cover of BRITNEY SPEARS‘s 1999 smash hit …ONE MORE TIME,
more than 760 million streams on Spotify.

The cover is part of the soundtrack of movie Kung Fu Panda 4.

I hoped they would trash the song in a sort of funny punk way, but
they actually kept it pretty clean, yet pretty catchy and thumbs up
for Black‘s powerhouse voice.

The accompanying video was filmed at the premiere of the film last Sunday in L.A.

Black: “Britney, if you’re watching, I love you. I love the song. I’m here! I’m ready when
you are. I’m waiting by the phone,” he said. “I got kicks! I don’t quite have Britney kicks,
but you know, I got some moves.”

Waking Up With BLINK-182 Dancing With The RAMONES

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

Californian veteran mega stars BLINK-182 got together last year with their classic line-up. Co-leader Tom DeLonge, who split with the band in 2015, returned, shared a new piece, titled Edging and went on a giant arena tour.

In between they wrote/recorded their 9th longplayer, baptized
One More Time…
and will unleash it on 20 October.

Funny as ever

Ahead of it, the band already dropped 2 tracks from the upcoming LP.
Cannonball More Than You Know and the title track, a pretty cool
candlelight ballad.

And here’s #3. DANCE WITH ME is Blink-182 by numbers.
Their massive army of fans will go bananas.

In the accompanying, the trio are their comical selves again
by dressing up and acting like punk pioneers Ramones.
Well, 3 of them, that is.

“Olé, olé, olé, olé
Yeah! We’re doing it all night long”

Much more dates to come.
