Band: LIGHT BY THE SEA
Who: The sonic porject of Eszter Anna Baumann
and Davy Knobel based in The Netherlands. Their music
consists of rock, avant-garde, and folk music elements with
a catchy pop vibe, inspired by the music scene of the 70’s,
80’s and 90’s.

Influences: Dead Can Dance, U2, The Brian Jonestown Massacre,
Phil Collins, Clannad, Fleetwood Mac and The Dandy Warhols.

“Writing this album together was the greatest musical adventure we could ever experience. Stuck in our apartment during lockdown, we were surrounding ourselves with great icons in thought, who inspired our music and lyrics. We have been being nostalgic about the past, as the pandemic evoked a sort of obsession about the ‘good old times’ within us. We think with a lot of people this has happened lately. Therefore we want you to dive into the forgotten sound with us and enjoy this musical ride together praising our eternal heroes. Only death can make icons, humans just play God.”

Turn Up The Volume: This fresh glam and glitter duo embraces their favorite decades
in music on their high-reaching debut with big melodramatic rock juggernauts (A Transition
In Time / Eleanor / Crimson Sugar / Where Jave The Dandies Gone?), psychedelic dream pop (Hollywood Vampire / Little Jeanie / Where Have The Dandies Gone?), 60s Summer of Love influenced trips with bizarro titles (Lupercalia in Neptunes Temple / Chelsea Is A Mermaid
And She’s Soaking In) and in the middle an electrical highlight (Willow Creek) with a guitar vibe straight from the soundtrack of a Spaghetti Western movie.

Overall Only Death Make Icons stands out for his romanticized and heroic bombast,
wall-of-sound sonorousness, vocal richness, and architectural production. Affecting
music is not time-bound, and it shows here, once again.
