PATTI SMITH Performs Goosebumps Version Of NEIL YOUNG’s ‘AFTER THE GOLD RUSH On Amercain TV

Last night legend PATTI SMITH sung a stripped-down version of Neil Young‘s 1970
classic song ‘After The Goldrush’ on American TV show ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’. A genuine and heart-whole goosebumps performance that she started first with reciting a new poem.

She was on the show to promote her
new memoir ‘Year Of The Monkey‘.
Here’s the interview she gave…

Warming Up For PATTI SMITH’s Concert In Belgium Tonight -Here’s ‘GLORIA’…

Knockouts from the past

5 August 2019

(pic by Turn Up The Volume!)

As PATTI SMITH will play my home country Belgium again tonight I will see her perform for the 5th time in the past 12 years. And every single time was a special event as Smith‘s ardent eagerness and ebullient intensity on stage is always omnipresent. To warm up for tonight my choice goes to a live rendition of the timeless Van Morrison classic ‘GLORIA‘.

A song Smith covered in her own special blistering way on her awesome debut LP Horses, a song which gets always a different forceful dimension when performed as I experienced before. See you tonight, Patti.

Here’s a historic 1979 live rendition from a German gig…

PATTI SMITH – ‘Piss Factory’ (1974)…

Sonic knockouts from the past

21 February 2019

Piss Factory‘ by PATTI SMITH
The first recording of a song she wrote herself (with music from her pianist Richard Sohl).
It was actually a poem which recounted her teenage experiences in a baby buggy factory, expressing her assurance that she would not let this awful time kill her ambitions. It was the B-side to her cover version of ‘Hey Joe‘ and released independently in 1974. It was ten minutes of what seems like a free jazz piano driven performance with Patti Smith reading, actually half-spitting, her poem over it. Pretty spellbinding, pretty special. Lyrics here.

PATTI SMITH Does THE ROLLING STONES – Here’s ‘GIMME SHELTER’…

Besides her own extended and brilliant work legend PATTI SMITH loved to cover her favorite songs by her favorite artists. She even made a whole album of them, called Twelve back in 2007. One of the highlights was this Stones classic GIMME SHELTER. Here’s a thrilling live TV rendition of it….
