Daily fuel to load your sonic batteries…

6 November 2018

Who: “A three-piece from London, comprised of William Stokes and twins Imogen and Ellie Mason. With roots in folk and Americana songwriting, the Wovoka sound draws upon the psychedelic soundscapes of the late 60s as well as contemporary experimental, pop and
collage music, marrying classic instrumentation with sampling, analogue synthesis and
sound manipulation. Having signed to the iconic Nude Records in early 2018, Wovoka
Gentle are currently at work on their debut album.”

A song that has something to do with that moment between being awake and asleep, where thoughts bleed into dreams and everything seems to make both no sense and perfect sense”, the band says. “You’re sliding between these contrasting, dense passages that still feed off one another and congregate around some kind of narrative, which maybe is the whole narrative.” The title is from an E. E. Cummings poem: ‘to exist being a peculiar form of sleep’.

Score: This is big time pop music. Richly orchestrated and terrifically arranged, spiced
with multi-layered harmonies and exalting synths. You will experience this exhilarated crackerjack like being on a dazzling roundabout. Going up and down, fast and slow, while your unaware mind enters a state of euphoria you can’t explain but makes you feel damn great. Capture the elevating dynamics right here…
