Lyrics Of The Day – By… PLACEBO

NANCY BOY‘ by PLACEBO in full here…

Alcoholic kind of mood
Lose my clothes
Lose my lube
Cruising for a piece of fun
Looking out for number one
Different partner every night
So narcotic outta sight
What a gas
what a beautiful ass

And it all breaks down at the role reversal
Got the muse in my head she’s universal
Spinnin’ me round she’s coming over me
And it all breaks down at the first rehearsal
Got the muse in my head she’s universal
Spinnin’ me round she’s coming over me

Kind of buzz that lasts for days
Had some help from insect ways
Comes across all shy and coy
Just another nancy boy
Woman man or modern monkey
Just another happy junkie
Fifty pounds
Press my button
Going down

And it all breaks down at the role reversal
Got the muse in my head she’s universal
Spinnin’ me round she’s coming over me
And it all breaks down at the first rehearsal
Got the muse in my head she’s universal
Spinnin’ me round she’s coming over me

Does his makeup in his room
Douse himself with cheap perfume
Eyeholes in a paper bag
Greatest lay I ever had
Kind of guy who mates for life
Gotta help him find a wife
We’re a couple
When our bodies double

And it all breaks down at the role reversal
Got the muse in my head she’s universal
Spinnin’ me round she’s coming over me
And it all breaks down at the first rehearsal
Got the muse in my head she’s universal
Spinnin’ me round she’s coming over me

PLACEBO’s Breakthrough Album ‘WITHOUT YOU I’M NOTHING’ Turns 20 Today…

Going back in sonic history looking for memorable albums…

12 October 2018

Band: PLACEBO

Album: WITHOUT YOU I’M NOTHING – the band’s second LP

Released: 12 October 1998 – 20 years ago

ALL MUSIC review: “While Placebo’s self-titled debut contained mostly elements of ’90s alternative (Smashing Pumpkins, etc.), their second album, ‘Without You I’m Nothing’, is
full of ’70s glam rock and punk references. Placebo’s rhythm section of Stefan Olsdal (bass)
and Steve Hewitt (drums) is impressively tight, but the band’s star attraction is undoubtedly androgynous singer/guitarist Brian Molko. Whereas the debut was written solely by Molko,
their latest is a bona fide group effort, with Molko still handling the lyric-writing… With
massive success already underway back home in England, ‘Without You I’m Nothing’
deserves to break through everywhere else.”

TURN UP THE VOLUME! says: ‘Black Market Music‘ and this one are my favorite Placebo longplayers. Here they combined glam firework with punk grimness in a most infectious way. Add frontman Brian Molko‘s striking vox & self-assured charisma (and let’s not forget their magnetic force on stage) and what you got was a standout band, loved more by its millions of fans than by the narcissistic we make/we break press at the time.
